That's an *excellent* problem to have! Congrats! All these little victories may not seem like much to the great unwashed, but I for one revel in them. Keep up the good work!

hi all, went to the beach today and i felt so much more comfortable walking thru the sand! it wasn't as hard as it used to be. and my bath suit still fits but there's plenty of room in there and not that long ago i was busting out of it! it was hot but i wasn't sweating profusely like i used to. all NSV's!

oh, we ate at a seafood place and i used to just love fried clams (well yes i still do and i did feel envious a little). but i was also sickened by the HEAPS of fried food that the people around me were eating! i would have liked 1 fried clam at least but i had a small lobster bisque (not low fat i know - but pureed and a small portion and indeed very good!).

from this new perspective, i can definately see why obesity is such an epidemic! if i can survive just fine on this small amount of food - it shows we clearly do not need such volume and thus we are overeating oursevles to death. i think this now even tho i thought my portion choices before surgery were usually moderate and appropriate.

interesting to hear others saying similar things - about how they feel seeing others eat 'regular' portions of food!

The surgery was on our tummies, but I think it works on our brains too! Long may it last everyone!

More weirdness happened to me today. We went to my niece's birthday party. My step-mother-in-law asked me what I was going to to with my extra skin! I was like, um I had surgery 1 month ago, I've lost 50 pounds total...that is years down the road. She then proceeded to tell me that her friend donated her skin and she only had to pay the anesthet....etc however you spell that magic person who puts you out. I again said that I'll think about that years down the line when I'm near goal weight and she tells me that her friend was at goal weight for 2 years before she had it removed....well, hello then! My doctor told me that I'm young enough that I might have enough elasticity that it may not be a problem if I continue to exercise.

Weirdness #2 - Also at this party was hubby's aunt that has had lapband. She gives me the weirdest freaking advice! She saw that I was not eating cake and ice cream and she said that ice cream is okay because it is low in carbs. I said, no thanks, I'm not a big ice cream fan and went back to my other conversation. (Weeks ago, she told me she chews food like popcorn and then spits it out....I'm like why bother?) I need to be as steadfast as possible at this point to really build solid, good habits, I think.

Someone else asked if I could just have a bite of cake. I said, yes, but I choose not to.

Later on in the car, I told hubby I should have said "Yes, I can have cake. I can have heroin and cocaine too, but I choose not to!" Hubby kept apologizing for his family, but I said it was okay. My family is so supportive in a normal way, that I think I need exposure to people that might be purposely or unintentionally trying to sabotage this.

Since being banded, I have encountered some weird, wacky stuff. What about you guys? What's the weirdest new development for you?

I'll go first...yawning! It's so weird. I can't feel the band, I have no abdominal pain, I barely even remember it's there anymore unless it's mealtime. But every time I yawn it feels like someone kicked me in the side of my stomach. Ever tried to stop a yawn? It's impossible.

So strange...

yawning...............yes!! starts about mid afternoon and is almost non stop for awhile -- altho I sleep well at nite. Yawning is not painful for me.........just seems awfully rude when I cannot control it.

And...............flatulence. Also starts mid aft. Can be pretty bad and cannot imagine how I am going to control that either. Had lap band 4/23/08. would appreciate any great ideas!!

this has been a strange event for me!

My chairs are suddenly feeling too low - my desk chair at work - my car seat in my car. I felt suddenly like i was sitting on the floor a couple of days ago! Couldn't see out my car very well. Felt sunken in front of my computer.

Then i realized i had to raise up both chairs! I think because my butt and thighs have gotten smaller, all that extra padding is no longer propping me up in my chairs!!

How weird (and excellent!) is that??

hey, my tailbone hits the chair and when i sit on something hard it really hurts. Before i didn't even know it was there. I find myself adjusting the rear view mirror and didn't realize till now why... Ha ha

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
