Who feels pretty normal with their fill????

Recommended Posts

Ok, I’m relatively new to the fills and the feelings with the band. I have 4.5 cc in a 10 cc band.

I have been losing weight since my last fill a week ago and can eat ANYTHING with no problems.

I watch my calorie intake with thedailyplate.com and keep around 1300 a day.

I have been trying to walk at least 3 times a week and use free weights to tone my arms everyday with a 10 to 15 min arm workout.

My question is, should I get another fill? I do get hungry but it’s nothing like it was pre-band and I control it with willpower. The band makes me eat slower and be aware of eating but I can still eat a entire McDonald’s chicken Bacon Ranch salad with no problems just slower than before. The only thing I “felt” was a Smart Ones Beans & Rice meal that kept me full for about 6 hours with no problems after eating the whole thing.

So is there anyone else out there that feels the same as I do? When you read and talk to everyone that is banded, they all tell me I can only eat VERY little and it’s REALLY tight in the morning, etc. So I’m wondering is it possible to have it this good???????????

By the way……I still eat junk food here and there but not everyday.

Should I leave a good thing alone until I stop losing weight or have a bit more put in at my next appointment? I guess I think I should be getting stuff stuck or PBing :tt2:

I feel the same as you. I can even eat Pasta and bread, only in much smaller amounts than I use to. I've never had anything get stuck or PB'd (knock on wood). I've lost about 30 lbs in 9 weeks. I'm also wondering if I should hold off on fills. Why mess up a good thing.

If you're still loosing weight, why mess with it. Just keep working out and watch what you're eating... and Geez- get some more of the Beans & rice! Full for 6 hours, I would LOVE that!!!

BTW- I go for my 1st fill on 7/11 and can't wait. I feel like I can eat too much now, even though I stop myself. It's an ongoing battle for me, but I know I can succeed!!!

It's funny, I was going to make a post about the same thing today. I had my third fill on Thursday. I have 6 cc's in a 9 cc Realize band. I am losing weight at a pretty steady 2 pounds a week. I can very slightly feel the band if I really over-eat, but mostly I think I'm doing it on will power. But then I start thinking.... this does feel different somehow from before I had the band. Maybe I'm in denial about how much the band is helping me?

On the other hand.... I don't have to chew things well.... I have no problems with anything whether I chew it well or not. I can eat anything I want. And I can easily eat more than a cup of food. Lastnight for dinner I had a 7 oz. blade steak (a cheap cut, on the thin side) and a huge pile of broccoli. Sometimes I want to eat so badly that I literally pace the floor up and down talking myself out of it, don't go near the kitchen..... sometimes it's real hunger and sometimes, I recognize, it's head hunger and of course I have to work on that.

So I'm really debating whether to get my next fill (scheduled for next Thursday) or not. I have another 5 days or so to decide. What I might do is go keep the appointment and talk to the nutritionist about what to do. They always tell me I'm welcome to come in whether I feel like I need a fill or not.

I was banded 5-7, and had 4.5 of 9 in the Realize band put in 6-17-08. I can eat alot! My friends, banded or not, cannot believe that I can eat the same as an unbanded person. I have lost 16.5 lb, but would like to lose 3 lb. a week, not 2. I need advice. Thank you!

I have 5cc in my Realize band and I REALLY have to watch myself because I can eat anything and way more than that 1/2 cup - 1 cup of food I was told I should be able to eat so I know where you are at. I called my doctor and he told me I need another fill so I go in 2 weeks.

I still can't eat very much food. A kid's meals can make two meals for me. Sometimes I have a chicken leg and a small serving of mashed potatoes and I can't finish it. It has been 14 months since my Band and I have lost 116 pounds. Have about 50 more to go.

Sometimes I think my Band is too full, since I do PB at least 2-3 times a week. I try to eat soft foods for lunch since it is very difficult for me to eat anything in 30 min. At dinner it sometimes takes me 2-3 hours to complete my very small portion of food. However, I am usually never hungry.

I do not know how much Fluid is in my Band since my Dr. does not disclose that information. He says everyone is different, so he does not want his patients comparing that info in the waiting room.

With that being said I would not change a thing. I would have the surgery again in a heartbeat. I read 5 books on the subject before my surgery and followed every rule there was. I did not want to take a chance of being one of the statistics that do not succeed. I am so glad I did. As some else said, it is a very short time. I can not believe it is over 14 months for me. Life just keeps happening and one day turns into a week then a month then a year. Before you know it, you will wonder what the fuss was all about.

For me I need a Knee Replacement, however my Dr. thinks I can wait 10 years. My pain was at a Level 10 before my Lap-Band and now it is a 2 on most days with the worse being a 5.

I am so thankful for the surgery, I have gotten my life back.

I had the opposite effect. The swelling was so bad after my surgery I could hardly eat. When I went to the Dr for my 6 week checkup I could not imagine how I could be more restricted. He sure showed me. He put a very little and then made me drink the Water would not go down. He had to remove the Fluid. However, about two weeks later I felt some hunger. The swelling had gone down and I was on the Fill train. I have had 8 fill since May 2007.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
