Surgery Scars/Pregnancy Issues

Recommended Posts

I was banded almost 4 months ago and we're hoping to start "trying" soon for our first baby, hopefully in 2-3 months. Most of our friends and family are not aware I had lap band, and I would like it to remain that way. My biggest fear is that my belly will give me away for 2 reasons: scars and the port sticking out.

I have uterine issues and we've been told to start our family soon at risk of not being able to conceive. As well, my bariatric surgeon has ok'd me to lose another 10-20 lbs and give it a shot. While not ideal, I am in great overall health and time is of the essence

I am losing alot of sleep over how the next year of my life will be and I am very excited in anticipation of it all! PLEASE share your thoughts and wisdom regarding any ideas for the scars and any advice or experiences you went thru due to your pregnancy with a lap band.

At the risk of sounding stupid, why are you worried about the scars? Mine have faded a good deal, but even so, I don't regularly flash my bare belly to people. The port, I can definitely understand your worry. I think there was another thread here about that and most said it wasn't visible. I can definitely feel mine more, but it doesn't stick out at all. I still have a good amount of belly fat though.

hi juno,

congrats on your pregnancy by the way! i'm worried about the scars being seen by my close girlfriends and family members that will inevitably ask to see my belly. we are a close-knit bunch and thru their pregnancies we have all rubbed the bare belly of whoever's preggo, or taken pics to show the kids later in life.

hope that helps.

That would be a sticky situation! I wish I had some words of wisdom, but I've pretty much told everyone about my band.

I wish you luck getting preggo!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
