Wow you ladies are rocking.

Welcome all the new ones too.

For those that dont know me i did the C25K program over Oct,nov 07 so i am here to encouarge you. I can run a 10k now without too much problem. I love Triathlons! There my fav. I would do them every week if i could. I run about 3 5k's a week and try and fit in 1 10k a week.

I started when i was around 360lbs or so.

Ang: 20mins is super scary. I remember almost panicing when i was on the treadmill ready to start it. But you will shcock your self. Go super slow. You will Love the feeling after.

MC Green: It took me till about 6 or 7 weeks to actually enjoy it. When i run 5k's now def the first mile is the worst. Then you kind of get into it.

Bonnie: CONGRATS on week 2 being done!!!!!! Way to go! Your doing awesome for yourself.

You are the best cheerleader I tell ya. So supportive and such an inspiration to us all.

I think you are right, I will go at it super slow and see what happens. I have been doing my 5 minute intervals (and 3 minute run intervals) at setting 4 on the treadmill, maybe I will take that down a notch or two for trying to do the 20 minutes and 10 minutes next week

Well, I guess I woke up. I sort of jumped ahead a little. (I just finished WK 2 Day 3) I wanted to see if I needed to repeat WK2.

I used the stop watch and my first running interval I ran 3 minutes, then 2, 2, 90 seconds..... (2min walks in between) The last 90 second run was rough. :scared2: But, I think I will move onto Week3.

I never in a million years thought I could be a runner. Thanks so much for all your inspiration and motivation. I think I actually like this. :wink2:

By the way, I run outside on a little country one lane road and it was 67 degrees @ 8:15am in the mountians of WV with low/medium humidity.

WTG Sugarbean! Sounds like you are moving right along. I wish I could run in 67 degree weather.....it's more like 94 degree weather here, lol. It's rough but at least I burn a lot of calories! Keep up the great work!

quick post from my meeting - did week 4 day 3 today and I couldn't complete the 2nd 5 minute run- did 3 minutes and had to walk for 2 before I finished :scared2:

oh well. I was planning on repeating but don't know why today was harder.

good luck to all!

Great job Sugar! I envy your outdoor weather... it's 36 celcius here... which is 97 F... so I ran inside.

I did my Day 2 week 1 run this morning... it went great. I struggled a bit around the halfway point... but overall did better than the first.

I was more tired today than Wed., and no runner's high :scared2:, but felt good afterwards.

Who'sya... thank you for giving us such great advice and being our mentor and role model!!!

Good luck everyone.

Just finished week 3 day 3. It gets easier each time. I actually think I am going to move on to week 4 next week. At the beginning of each week I think that there is no way I can do the next week, but then I do. I am really enjoying this now. It is still definately hard, but the feeling of accomplishment when I finish is undescribable. I don't have to describe it to yall, because yall know exactly what I am talking about. It is sooo cool to be donig this together.

Whosya, I ditto everyone elses remarks. You are the bomb. Thanks for the tips and encouragement.

Gearing up for week 4....

Amy

WTG Renewed! It is so inspiring to see how the progression of Cto5k gets better and better with each run.

Later this evening I will do day 3 of week one and I'll take it from there I guess. I think I am going to run a little later in the evening so it won't be soooo hot.

I have a question for all of you. Do y'all drink Water while you run or like a low calorie energy drink? I'm just curious because I almost ran out of fuel last time. I do think I will eat a small serving of some type of healthy carb before my run today and see if that helps.

I usually work out within 30 minutes of having a Protein Shake for Breakfast. It gives me a lot of energy. I notice on the mornings I don't hit the gym after the drink I am buzzin around with lots of energy. While walking sometimes I take sips of Water, but I am afraid I will spill or drop it if I try to chug and walk at the same time. I dont want to pause the treadmill to take drinks. I just want to get that workout done and THEN chug water! I guess when I am banded there will be no more chugging!

Amy, great job! Congrats on finishing week 3. Thank you for starting this up... its a real inspiration and so much better to do this together!

Georgia... good luck tonight! I have to eat something prior to running... but not right before. I've eaten a yogurt about 30 mins prior. Then I bring my water with me. However, I don't drink too much water during because it gerggles around in my stomach and bothers me when I'm running. I think I'll get used to this, and when the intervals are longer it might be better... but right now I don't. When I do drink, its on a walk interval. I then drink lots of water afterwards, and also eat a meal. So far I've eaten a lean cuisine dish following the run... and it tastes sooo good!

Wow, just finished day 3 of week 1. I am definitely on a high right now. I am amazed at how good today went. I really didn't even get that tired until the last 2 intervals. My breathing was so much better today. To think I could only last 12 minutes on Tuesday!

I think I am still going to repeat week one again though. I'd rather be safe than sorry. My biggest fear in this is that I will get overwhelmed and quit.....so, I am going to take it slow.

I'm still on a high! It feels great!!!

Whosya - Like everyone else has said... thankyou so much for the encouragment and support. You are awesome. As for the 5K I am debating signing up for... I figure even if I have to walk some of it and even if I come in last.... at least I can try. It will give me something to aim for! You will probably be here saying "I told you it was too soon", but I'll take that chance ;)

Renewed - congrats on finishing week 3! You go girl. I plan on finishing it tomorrow and I also plan on moving on to week 4 next week. Thanks for starting this wonderful thread. Doing this together is such fun!

Georgia - I don't know how you run out in that heat! Yikes! You deserve an award.

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
