My four small incisions have healed fine. Today the large 2 1/2 inch incision started pouring out the clear melted butter consistency Fluid. I ended up taking off the steri strip 3 days early & it is open with a hole the size of a pencil eraser.

This has soaked three shirts, so now I"m continuously replacing paper towels (with betadine soaked over the part touching the incision to sterilize it)

Has this happened to anyone else? How long does it keep oozing out?

I don't have a fever & I don't think it is infected, but I'm watching it close.

Any info would make me feel better!

You should try to get in touch with your doctor ASAP if you have a hole there and have that much oozing. I'm not trying to scare you, but it's definitely better to be safe than sorry.

I have that problem. Same as yours. Having band removed on 6-10-08. Dr. says body is rejecting port. I had band placed on 3-08-08. Still draining today, 6-08-08.

mrshobo, I'm sorry you have had troubles with it. Do they think they will be able to try again? I can't imagine how you are feeling.

Hi, before you get too concerned about your body rejecting the port as suggested above, you should call your doctor, make an appointment to go and see them.

I had my surgery on 7 april, and 10 weeks later, my large incision has only just now finally healed completely. I had an infection on the left edge, which caused open wound about 1/4 inch across. I had 3 courses of strong antibiotics to help rid the infection.

Luscious, I was not telling her what her problem is. I went to the doctor that's how I found out about my own problem. I would expect her to do the same thing. She asked did anyone have the same symptons and I do.

Go to the doctor before the incision gets infected, or heals badly. It it isn't taken care of, it might not heal right, and you could risk needing additional procedures to fix the spot. It's not a big deal to get it taken care of. On my last open abdominal surgery, I had staples to close the incision, but two of them popped out. It oozed that liquid out of it, and when I stood up, it gushed out like someone had turned on a faucet. I had to have the wounds packed with gauze to aid in the healing. After it was in the wound for several hours, I (actually my DH) would pull the gauze out. I had to do this several times. This allowed the wound to heal from the inside out. My daughter's friend had a similar problem, and her doctor had her mother take a q-tip with silver something on it and swab it around inside the wound. Again, this helped the wound to heal properly. My wounds were exceptionally deep, which is why I had the packing gauze. It didn't hurt to have it packed, or pulled out. It was just a weird "wooshy" feeling as I felt the gauze come out. It just gave me the heebie-jeebies cause it felt "wooshy".

Just wanted to let you know I had the same problem and the doctor thought it was staff at first. And put me on strong antibotics. But as it turned out it wasn't staff. He said it was fat that had turned into a liquid substance and started to drain out. In about a week it had stopped draining and the pain that I had felt before was no longer there. I hope this helps!:behindsofa:

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
