  1. I felt the same & was very worried about slippage. I've had my first fill & there was no damage. The doctor told me they give you the liquid diets because they don't want you throwing up. I didn't have a problem with throwing up so I didn't hurt myself. Also, you won't lose weight or fill restriction until your first fill. If you do lose weight at first - its mostly water because of the liquid diet & some will come back. I'm doing well now & I'm losing an average of 2 lbs per week.
  2. My four small incisions have healed fine. Today the large 2 1/2 inch incision started pouring out the clear melted butter consistency Fluid. I ended up taking off the steri strip 3 days early & it is open with a hole the size of a pencil eraser. This has soaked three shirts, so now I"m continuously replacing paper towels (with betadine soaked over the part touching the incision to sterilize it) Has this happened to anyone else? How long does it keep oozing out? I don't have a fever & I don't think it is infected, but I'm watching it close. Any info would make me feel better!
  3. Nacho Supreme at Taco Bell. Mac n Cheese & mashed potatoes at KFC. Great choices right?
  4. I'm also looking, if I find one, I"ll let you know. I was banded in Mexicali Mexico by Dr. Aceves on May 27. I'm doing well & may go back for the first fill in July. After that, I'd like to find one near.
  5. The surgical team told me that some people need to sleep in a recliner or chair until the swelling goes down. This is to avoid pain & the use of your stomach muscles. Do you use a heating pad? This helped me tremendously!
  6. I'm about to start believing they keep you on a liquid diet so long to avoid this period of discouragement. I am able to eat (almost) like my old self- at 10 days out. I tried chicken today & I'm basically eating chicken & mashed potatoes. I chew very well, & I eat about half what I use to ...but in two hours, I'm eating the other half. I guess if the tool is in but not in use yet, that is what is to be expected. I hate that I couldn't stay on the liquids, but I am doing very well & chewing especially long.
  7. Congrats! You'll do fine..I just had my surgery 5/27 & I'm already doing well. Lucky you! I just had the equivalent of liquid tylenol.
  8. That is awesome! I'm glad you took control of your health & weight. This site has been very helpful for me too! I was banded 5/27/08 & have lost 16lbs to date. I'm excited & I'm also scared because I keep reading about the negative experiences. Good luck with the rest!
  9. Depends on where you get it done. I had mine done in Mexicali, MX for 7900.00. This was 5/27/2008 & I had a great experience. They have you fly into San Diego & they pick you up at the airport & drive you back. So easy. I had three friends do it there & I was really hesitant to do it in Mexico, but my husband is a Professor & researcher & we really made sure it was safe.
  10. Why are you not following doctors orders? Didn't they put you on a 3 week liquid plan then soft foods for a week? Are you worried about a slippage? From what I've been told, this is a healing time & eating anything will basically make your stomach churn to digest it & then you are really risking a slippage.
  11. Okay, two days ago I read this & thought- Good lord, I'm fine & I was just banded 5/27. Now, I'm dying to eat. I think its all emotional on my part because I just want to cry. I just watched 2 hours on the food Network channel. I chewed on some chips & spit them out...that helped a little, but I'm still so down. I didn't know I would have to be on 2 weeks of pure liquids then another on creamy & then soft foods. I just don't want to end up back in the hospital with a slippage problem. I met a lady in the hospital who had just had her band put back in. I really don't want 3 surgeries just because I am emotional and want food. I know in the end I'll be happy, but I didn't expect to be on liquids so long. I have already lost 16lbs since surgery date.
  12. My husband was my biggest supporter! I almost did it behind his back, afraid he would not approve & I'd feel my health wasn't as important as I thought it should be. Silly me! He was 100% for it. He knows the amount of money I spent eating out & the health problems I have had. I'm sorry your husband is scared. Hopefully he'll come around & see it is important for your health & the weight loss is necessary for that. Hope he can rethink this....it takes time & he probably hasn't thought about it near as much as you have. Good luck!
  13. WoW! Good for You! Your parents obviously love you & know it is your health they are helping you with. Congrats!
  14. I have had a sleep study- it was no big deal. I have had a cpap for the last two years and its helped. Good luck to you! I was banded last week & I'm so happy I went for it! I've been contemplating it for the past few years.
  15. Today is Day 6 of my post-op diet. I've been doing well & I'm already down 16 lbs from surgery date! I scheduled four days of relaxation to de-stress before my surgery. My husband & I flew to San Diego and two days later, I received a call that my grandmother (favorite person in the world!) passed away. So, two days later, I had surgery in Mexicali, Mexico. Two days after that we drove back to San Diego & flew back to Oklahoma. Luckily, they were able to hold the funeral for me....that had been a worry. So, now three days after the funeral, I'm doing well. I'm encouraged by all the success stories on this website. Hope things continue to go well. I'm started my modified clear liquid diet today. :smile2:I'm still in shock that I've lost so much, but I'm guessing it is mostly water weight. Time will tell! Always-
