I hope everyone is okay this morning. It sure was quiet over the weekend.

Well, I got out at 6am and did my 3,000 steps. I am gonna weigh on Wednesday so it is crunch time.

Janet, Are you okay? I didn't see you on FB or LBT.

Joyce, Yes, I am excited about Vegas. I haven't booked a room yet...... I will probably do it this week.

Jessica, I hope you had a great birthday. You sure are looking good. Check in when you can.

Good morning girls!

Wow, Arlene, you were right! It has been a quiet this weekend! Arlene, happy you are going to LV! I really doubt I will be able to go : ( But won't know until it gets closer. We leave the week after that weekend for our Vermont Anniversary trip. But you never know...

Once you guys depend on a name of the group, you should get shirts made! If you do- I will buy one too. : )

Ughhhh, this past weekend wasn't such a good food/exercise weekend for me. I am up 3 lbs today. I seriously doubt it is a full gain of 3, I had a lot of salty stuff. The other day when Nels had his friends here I ordered them pizza (still no threat for me- as it gets me stuck every time- so I never eat it), but I ordered 2- 20 oz. cokes. Well they didn't have the small ones so they brought me a 2 liter. I have NO idea why I felt like drinking it, but I would say I had 1 liter. Now, that's 500 calories or so. So NOT worth the calorie bucks. Would have rather had chocolate. Have you guys tried any of the skinny cow icecreams? They have chocolate icecream cones that 150 cal each. It has been my planned treat once a day for the last week. They usually REALLY do it for me.

I have the boy home this week. I decided not to do camp. Them not applying sunscreen nor repellent was a deal breaker. Today will be a chill day, tomorrow have a play date planned here with his best friend Nicholas, and Wed will have a beach day. We've had a lot of togetherness : ) Yesterday we swam, played in the sand and went on a nature walk. Has anyone seen those kits for "sea monkeys"? (they've been around for forever b/c I had one has a kid). I bought it for Nelson and they hatched yesterday! He was so excited. Watching them made me itch, as they are basically Water bugs.

Phyl~ How's the new baby? I am sure he's keeping you busy!

Judy~Congrats on the new camera! Digital is the only way to go. I have 3 of them. Love taking pics.

Janet~ Hope you survived your weekend with the car drama. I know that a sleepless night kinda gets me out of whack.

Julie~ Hope you had fun at the wedding. How ya feeling?

Jewel~ I wished you HBD on FB, how did you Celebrate?

LadyKC~ it's hot hot hot here too. If you do go outside you have to LIVE in the water to survive. I will still take this anytime over snow. : )

Apples~ Are you back yet?! I promise this week to start an interesting topic- I will be thinking of one. : )

I spoke to my parents a little while ago. They are struggling this week. Although the great news of a negative PET scan is thrilling- it doesn't change how you are feeling in the moment. He still feels weak, has pain and the neuropathy keeps him from doing a lot of things. He is frustrated and down. I think they both underestimate how the change in their lives can cause situational depression. They both have periods of the blues. They refuse to talk to anyone. (I think Mom especially could benefit from talking to a psychologist). It's tough helping them. My mom called me Sat. night just crying her eyes out. I had a long talk with her and she was a bit better after, but she still breaks my heart.

ok, I better go get some work done. DH is off today after being on call all weekend. Trying to keep the boy "out of his hair" so he can chill a little. : ) That's a tough one b/c all he wants to do is be with his daddy!

CBL... peasout.. Laura

Good morning gang! For it being a quiet weekend here supposedly I had lots of reading to catch up! I had a wonderful time camping. Whodda thunk that I'd enjoy tent camping so much? But being out in the mountains with DH and BOTH my kids and their significant others with no distractions was awesome. None of the electronics worked so it was just us and the campfire and beautiful scenery. DS has a new g/f he's pretty serious about so it was nice to get to know her as well. DH and DS are avid flyfisherman and the river we were near was 'Gold Medal Water' (who knew there was such a thing?) and they were very thrilled to get to fish and DD and her DH were learning how to do it. Lots of women flyfishing too. I sat and watched and was teh keeper of the dogs. LOL I'll try attaching a pic of DH with his big catch.

Vegas: after I get home from the gym and costco today I am going to look for my flight. I plan on arriving in the morning on Fri and leaving early afternoon on Sunday. The flight is less than an hour for me so should be doable. I am so excited so many are coming. Julie, you should give it a shot. I remember you were nervous about FL too and you did great there from what I hear. I'd like to do a little shopping but am not into the whole Vegas strip scene either, I too have lived there in the past, I am going to visit and bond with all you gals.

Linda, thanks for booking our room while I was gone, I will email you and get a check to you soon.

LauraK, glad you enjoyed your brief time in SLC, it is a beautiful city. I just love the mountains all around and so close.

Laura, hope you get a refund on that camp. Poor little guy getting burnt and dehydrated. They should know better.

Phyl, I saw a post of puppy pics. I missed that you found a puppy, what kind is she/he?

Janet, glad Andrew is safe. Scary.

Apples, hope you are enjoying the lake, and are back soon. So glad you DH is encouraging you to go and to let go of the guilt.

Joyce, it's a hot one here today too but no humidity so that's nice.

Cheri, for flights I usually go to a website like travel.yahoo.com and put in my dates and see what it comes back with, it will price all airlines but Southwest usually. (Southwest does not work with any other airlines or travel websites, you have to book theirs on their website only) but then I go to which ever airlines deals I like best and check there as they are usually a bit cheaper on the individual airlines website. But it's a way to see a bunch of options in one place.

well I got loads of dirty camping laundry to do and I gotta get to the gym. Am checking out a different location of 24 Hour today.

Hi everyone, Had a busy weekend, just family stuff. So happy both Arlene and Apples will be joining us in Las Vegas in October. Wish everyone could come!

Laura, I hope you get a refund on the camp this week. If they open it to children that age, they need to take the time to make sure the kids are being well taken care of. What a lapse of judgment to not make sure the younger kids are applying sun screen and staying hydrated. Sorry to hear your folks are still struggling -- it's a lot to cope with - I agree your mom could use some counseling - just someone to talk to -- just to unburden herself -- would be healthy for her.

Lori, glad you enjoyed your camping trip -- and I'm sure you enjoyed being with your kids. I know what you mean about the mountains -- I really miss them -- that's why I loved Reno so much.

Janet, Holy cow -- Andrew is lucky you are as cool as you are -- I probably would have killed him.. Glad he was okay and the car was okay and yes, it's a valuable lesson. It reminded me of when I first met my DH and we took his kids to a Disney performance somewhere in Anaheim -- and DH couldn't find the car -- he had parked in a different garage - so we always laugh about it too -- but it wasn't funny at the time!!

Quiet on here today too -- Janet had a friend visiting over the weekend I think.

LauraK when are you flying home? Hope all is well, let us know

CBL.

Linda

Sure is quiet here today, why is it always that way when I have time to read and post? LOL

I went to the other location for 24Hour Fitness today. They didn't have what I have been calling the killer machine (elliptical and stepper in one sortta) but this location had a pool and basketball court, mine does not. the pool might be nice for a change up once in awhile. I do have a neighborhood pool though that I have yet to use since moving in.

After working out I went to costco to pick up a patio set that we saw last week. We got our insurance settlement for the damaged set from the hailstorm on our moving day. Of course, they were sold out of them. So someone looked up for me if any other stores in the area had them. Ogden and Orem stores had them and Orem marked them down $100, so I went for a 40 min drive or so to Orem to pick one up. Low and behold I get there and it's marked down an additional $100 for a total of $200. Lucky me! DH is out in the 96 degree heat putting it together now. He said I could buy nothing else that needs assembly until he gets his grass and bushes in. He's so anxious about getting in his yard. I just want the dirt covered tired of it in the house with him and the dogs dragging it in.

Finally finished about 6 loads of laundry, how can just 2 people dirty that much in a weekend of camping?

So glad Arlene is coming to Vegas now too, this is turning into quite the gathering. WOOHOO!! So anxious to meet all of you. I was so sad to miss Florida.

Well, I got out even though I heard thunder. So, for today I did 6900 steps. Now, for you gym rats that is peanuts, but it is a big deal for me. You see, I ate catfish and shrimp for lunch.....yep, it had breading on it.....not good. So, I am doing a shake for dinner. I have Protein Powder bursting out of my pantry. I forgot to stop the auto ship until it was too late. I will be drinking shakes for a long, long time. Of course, that is my emergency hurricane food too. lol

Great, do you like costco better than Sam's?

Hi All,

Still in NV with DD. We are still roughing it as the moving co. has not delivered her stuff. Moved it back to July 10-11. Can't seem to get anywhere with them. It's like camping indoors. We did bring one blow up bed and not a whole lot more. This town is very sparce with not much to do. Did go to Cali to do a bit of shopping but not all she needed.

Leaving for Vegas a day early neither one of us can keep doing this. She does get her internet hooked up tomorrow so she will have that. Right now it is hit or miss, someone in the complex has wireless that works for awhile, or we go to the bar/casino and use it there.

I will be happy to head home but, I will miss and worry about DD. She went to her office today and came back in a lot better frame of mind.

My DS gave me a flower report last night when I talked to him. Such a sweet boy walked all around the yard describing the plants in bloom for his momma. Actually can't believe he did it. lol

Take care I will try to catch up with all of you soon.

Hey Chickie-Poos....

Got home about 6pm after my day of work for my friend. Her shop is only 8 miles from my lake place and works out great for me. Love the little job. Just what I was looking for. Customer service, pricing product, just a little bit of everything. No thinking. Right up my alley at this stage of my life.

Pretty excited to read your post, Arlene, that you will be joining us in Vegas. Your DH sounds about as sweet as mine. Keep on walking...the scale will move again.

Great...we did not have access to cell phones in FL in the forest either. We did have a land line so the kids could contact us. We really don't mind it. Peaceful

Good going on the deal on patio set. Happy to hear you had a good weekend with the kids.

LauraK...hope you can swing Vegas. You DD will do fine. Just give her a couple of weeks to settle in and start work. Us moms worry, don't we? Have had my youngest move all over the US and each time I just tell myself it will be fine....and has been. Safe travels back home.

Laura...ditto what others have said about camp. We had a similar story with youngest DS at 4yrs old. Nasty yellow blisters on his back from a day at camp. TOLD them to make sure his tee shirt stayed on and left sunscreen to be reapplied. Nope. He ended up with a fever, dehydrated and blisters the size of eggs. A year later we had to have three deep moles removed to be safe. Very nasty. Should have had them pay medical cost. I was way beyond ticked.

Hope you can make Vegas. You gotta. Sorry to hear of your parent's down time. Lot's of you and your sister to worry about. Hugs.

Janet...what a worry with what went on with Andrew. And, yes, they do learn from these experiences. Happy he is safe. Hope you had a good weekend with your friend.

Phyll...Zoey is adoreable. Our lab was a hand biter when he was a puppy. Our neighbor who is a trainer told us to shout a loud "no" (which you are already doing), turn your back to them and make absolutely no eye contact when they are doing something that is a "no". They also said to be very consistent in how you say your "no"...using the same tone for each negative action. Takes a bit but they do learn. Welcome empty nest parenthood!

Julie...congrats on getting verification from your insurance co to go onto mayo. Hope you get a date soon. Also, hope you reconsider Vegas.

Jessica...Also wish you could join us but know school would get in the way. Hope you had a happy bday!

Cheri...find tickets yet????

Judy...did I miss something? PS?

Have a chicken and rice dish in the oven and eggs boiled for egg salad for the lunch boxes this week. Not even sure when my guys will show..usuallly between 9:30 and 10pm. I like planned meals but not on the farm durin the busy season. Think I will turn the oven off for now.

Lovely but busy weekend. Had 3 bday parties and was able to hit some of the festivities in town for "Old Settlers Reunion". Fun, fun and more fun. Got more than my share of walking in also. Down 3lbs this morning. Shocked me cuz I ate like a little piggy. So, real mayo and butter this week.

Will check in later. Gotta throw another load of laundry in and get the bread in the oven.

BTW...I fly in at 10:10am on Friday and leave at 7am Monday. Need to find a room near the airport for Sunday night. Joyce....maybe we could room together Sunday night if you decide to stay.

Looks like Lori and I fly in not too far apart. I thought I would just take a cab and never thought about Janet and Eva picking us up. That would be very nice but can still do the cab...or...Lori and I can have a lunch together and wait for others to fly in. I'm cool with anything.

Awww...what a sweet DS, LauraK.

DS had all his stuff held hostage by a moving company when he moved from Santa Barbara to Daytona. 21yr old kid and NOTHING in his apt. The apt. owner were so good and scrounged to find him some furniture from others in the complex. Found him toaster, coffee maker, bed, couch, etc. They were great. Hope it all arrives soon.

karen--I had PS in May 2009. I had my arms done and while I was going to be out anyway, I said, Lift the girls! I am not displeased, but I did not get the results I had hoped. The doc wants to "redo" everything once I get down to the 150's and stay there for awhile. I don't know--it won't be free, but less than the first time.

We'll see.

Welcome home Apples. I'd love to either get a cab with you or have lunch in the airport while we wait for others to get in. What airline are you arriving on? I am on Delta, of course. LOL gotta support the paycheck, plus I got a discount.

Arlene, yes I do like costco way better than Sam's but then again I have not been to a Sam's in a long time.

LauraK, that's a long time to wait for the moving van. We practically had to race our moving van here. So nice of your son to give you a tour of your plants.

Well I gotta find a day to go to Denver to visit Grandma, it's time to balance her check book and go over some other things and take her shopping.

I also fly Delta on the way out to Vegas. I arrive in SLC at 9:03am, out of SLC at 9:45am and into Vegas at 10:10am. You got me excited. Thought we might be on the same flight. Flying Alaskan Airline on the way back with a layover in Seattle for a bit. I absolutely LOVE flying into Seattle. So beautiful..

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
