I'm going to get my band at the end of the summer, because I'll be in TX during the summer for grad school. I've done everything else, except the counseling for emotional eating, which I start next week. My doctor seems to have a really strict protocol.

Anyway, I'm a 38-yr old married Southern girl with 3 kids. My oldest girl is 4 yrs, and I have twin six month old babies - a boy and a girl. My primary occupation is grad student, and I teach part-time at the local university.

I live in Raleigh, August - May, and in Austin, TX, in June and July.

Hey there Kathy from Charlotte,

I'm a social worker. I lived in Charlotte from '90-'94, but I'm from Raleigh, so I came back when I got married. I lived in the cutest condo called Selwyn Village, near Park Road Shopping Center. Do you know it?

Hey Susie, I know the Park Road/Selwyn/Queens area fairly well. I can drive all over through there and get to where I need to go, but don't ask for directions! I couldn't tell you for a nickle. It's grown up alot in there, so I'm not familiar with Selwyn Village but that's a really NICE area, lots of old trees, shady, something new in the middle of the "Matthews" of the 1940's. Park Road Shopping Center has been around longer than me, that's for sure! I moved to the Charlotte area in 1975, I was 10. Grew up in SE Charlotte.

I used to be in Social Work, in a sense. I don't have an MSW, or even an SW! (mine's a BS) but I worked for a private non-profit that contracted group home sevices with Meck County. I was a Program Mgr. Did you work for the County?

Sorry for the walk down memory lane everyone! lol

Hey, Vinesqueen is a full time student, too. She has a full scholarship (woohooo) so she's purdy smart. (And she took out her birthday but I'm pretty sure she's 41) so she's got you beat in the oldest student in the class syndrome. hehe!

And I'm with pink, we'd all love some perspective on counseling for emotional eating. Let us know how that goes! Very interesting!

You'll be a nice addition to LBT!

Hi Kathy,

I worked for the county for part of the time, at the health dept on Beatties Ford Rd. I did case mgmt with HIV+ homeless people. I loved it there. My husband and I would have liked to stay in Charlotte, but he had a great job in Raleigh, so it was just a matter of economics.

Hey Vinesqueen, what are you studying?

Susie

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
