So today I slipped into (for the second time) a pair of corduroy bell bottom hip huggers that I bought 6 years ago from Hot Topic. They were sexy little musician/hipster/youthy pants I always wanted to wear. I still can't believe they slide up over my thighs and butt.

This must be the body dysmorphia I hear about. I still feel huge, every time I pick up size 14 pants I really think, there is no way my body will fit into that. Lexy screams about my little legs and I honestly have to catch myself from disagreeing, I genuinely think...are you insane? LOOK AT MY CALVES. But Mother taught me to take compliments with a polite "Thank you", even if you think said compliment is a steamy pile of BS :blushing:

Anyway - I'm wearing them now, and feeling rather amazed that I DO finally fit into these "13" pants (prolly 14).

I think I'm going to buy a size 10 "something" and start practicing again. It was really motivating. I can't count the number of times I was trying them on over the years and they wouldn't go past my knees...then they were half way up my thighs...then I streettttcchhhedd and got my ass in them....now it slides right up, buttons.

Do you guys have any "goal" outfits?

Congratulations on your NSV! You must be so proud of yourself!!!

It never occurred to me to use clothing as a motivator, but that IS what gets my butt up and moving! Thanks for the tip!

7_5_142.gifI was banded last week, but yes I have bought 3 things in smaller sizes. I haven't gotten past a 1x yet. I have trouble thinking smaller than that yet. So I understand the thinking. I don't remember being anything smaller than an 18 and that was in school. I have been fat all my life, and look forward to dressing young instead of old. When I was young they did'nt have young fat clothes, so I had to wear old fat clothes. Anyway great job!~ Have fun!:blushing:

Congratulations!!!

I have a pair of size 18 kahkis(?) that I really look forward to getting into.....its been quite a while....I also have some old 14s in my dresser somewhere I think. It will be a while since I am now a tight 22, but I know I will get there hopefully within the next year.

A NSV is a non-scale victory and personally I think that they are even more motivating and rewarding than the number on the scale!

I can't wait until I can fit in my wedding outfit again. Now that will be cause for celebration. I haven't been able to wear it for 8 yrs now.

Thanks Angel P for clarifying that for me. I've seen it thrown around the boards and could never figure out what it meant.

I have been doing a lot of "closet shopping" lately, lol. I think a lot of us who have traveled up and down on sizes in the past have some items in the closet that havent fit right for a while but we can't bear to part with. It has been great!!!!!

I also love that I can see the transition in a pair of pants from skin tight . . . looks good . . . omg, i need a belt :0)

Another nsv is just being able to go clothes shopping and find cute, non-grandmotherly clothes that fit well. I wouldn't give my band up for the worlddd!!!!!!!

This is one area where I really envy the ladies. Guys don't get to have "goal outfits." All our cuts are about the same, they just start taking more fabric :blushing:

I'll take a hit for the metrosexual males out here. We certainly DO have goal outfits. Tuxedo I wore on my wedding day - check; size 34 jeans that I almost forgot about - check (barely...breathing is another concern). Getting rid of all of my triple XXX shirts and being able to fit into XL and even L shirts - check. Wearing a form-fitting cotton stretch thermal with jeans and being able to pull it off without feeling like a clown - check. Actually getting into a pool this Memorial Day without a shirt on - check (probably, if the weather holds out). :blushing:

I love using clothes as a goal. I have taken too long to try some things on and missed getting to wear them though. Try them on every few weeks or so. Its weird being able to say my wedding dress is too big. I love that one!!!

Kate when I first got banded there was a pair of jeans that had been hanging in my closet for years that I wanted to be able to wear again. well about 2 months after surgery I tried them on and THEY FIT but not only did they fit they were too big. so I didnt get to wear them again but that is just fine with me. I was banded in Nov 07 and I set a goal of being able to wear this black dress on my vacation in july 08 that I wore on vacation in 03 and I am very happy to report that I get to buy a new black dress because that one is too big!!!

I love clothing goals but I do hate when I miss the chance to wear the item I was looking forward to wearing. but it is much better to not be able to wear it because its too big not too small.

Go Kate with your skinny little legs!!! :cool2:

You carry the weight really well - looking very slender!

My goal is to get into a pair of size 14 designer straight-leg jeans (with some Spanx of course) and feel fab!!

Now if I can just muscle up the courage to buy them! I was carrying a pair around a store last weekend and decided to leave them behind! That is one thing that we still need to do together, Kate - GO SHOPPING! :biggrin2:

I have one skirt I haven't been able to wear in a really long time, that I'd like to get back into (pretty close), and I bought a pair of shorts one time, and then bought a second pair in a size 12 because they were on sale. That will be a good day :cool2:

I think the NSV's are the most rewarding as well. I always had to buy more clothes so I could fit into them. But now, I can wear what has been sitting in my closet for a while My shirts and pants are no longer tight and fit well. I am so excited!!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
