Jazzy Junes 2008...What do you do? Where are you from?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

My name is Stephanie and I am from Waco, Tx. I am 39, but will be turning the big "4 0" July 9th. I am a registered nurse on a pediatric unit and if you can't tell by the time of this post, I work nights(7p-7a). I am trying to get off of nights and hope to in the next month because I think working nights contributes to my weight problems and my poor eating habits. I hardly ever have time to sit and enjoy a meal at home with my family. When I am sleeping they are awake and when I am awake they are asleep. Unless I am off, we see each other in passing.

I have a wonderful fiance that I have been with for 6 yrs now. He is the one actually paying for my surgery. He didn't want me to get it at first, but I think he is finally coming around. He has gone with me to appointments and he is seeing how much this means to me.

I was supposed to have surgery on May 30th, but too many bad things happened a couple of days before which made me postpone til June. I haven't yet scheduled my date, but will this month for sure. I have already done everything in prep for it, just need to schedule date. I almost cancelled surgery altogether and my fiance is the one that actually encouraged me to continue with my plans.

Oh by the way, I have 3 children, ages 22, 17, and 15. The middle one is my daughter and best friend. I also have a very cute, hyper 1 1/2 yr old Westhighland Terrier named Daisy. After my surgery, she will help keep me active.

I look forward to joining all of you successful, supportive winners very soon.

I have lived with my boyfriend for the last 6 years. His two daughters (ages 14 & 15) live with us and my 21 yo daughter lives with us as does her 9 month old daughter (my grandbaby). I also have a 20 yo daughter who lives in Austin, TX. Yes - plenty of girls around here!:biggrin2:I am a tax accountant and boyfriend is a computer tech support person. My daughter is a student so we babysit regularly. I never thought I would enjoy a baby this much. Grandchildren are the best!:tongue2:

Hi all -- I'm brand new, just registered today--got banded on June 3, 2008 so still recovering. I work for Verizon and have a very supportive husband and 3 great kids (12,11,6). I have to admit, I had more pain than I expected but today has been MUCH better. Started at 308lbs and today's weigh in put me at 295...its a start. I'm already sick of the Protein Drinks, hubby made a big dinner with all the trimmings for the kids tonight that smelled wonderful (I guess that shows that I am feeling better) and then I had to make Cookies for my daughters team party...realizing that life hasn't changed in the un-banded world and its hitting me that this is not going to be an easy road. I'm looking for any support I can get, and I'd like to be a part of Jazzy Junes 2008 if I may. Good luck everyone!

Hi Everyone! I'm a pharmacist too, from Minnesota. I'm 44 years old, married to a wonderful man for 8 years, have a 23 year old daughter, 19 year old son, and 7 month old grandson (cute, cute, cute.....brown bear, I agree with you....being a grandma is unbelievable!) My surgery is Monday and I am very excited. I got my call from the admission nurse today and pleasantly found that I am way more excited than scared! I love reading all the stories of the folks that are post-op, as I have never had surgery and am a bit apprehensive. Nice to meet everyone.

He is very supportive and is taking a weeks vacation just to take care of me.:tongue2: I have two children and two beautiful granddaughters whom I adore. I want to get healthy so I

Hi everyone!

I'm Hunzi and I was banded June 4th.

I was super nervous! I almost backed out because I kept telling myself, I'm healthy, do I really want to do this???

I'm 43, live in Omaha, Nebraska, and have been a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant for the past 20 years. I'm married to my high school sweetheart, for the past 24yrs and we have two kids, a boy 19 in college and a girl 14 starting high school in the fall.

I felt great right after the surgery, but have had a tougher time here at home. Lots of pain, lots of gas, and getting dehydrated. Happily, I think I may have just turned the corner because I was finally able to drink more than a teensy sip of Water all day. Whew!

I'm feeling much better at the moment! Yay!

I'm looking forward to getting in shape!

Always ;-)

Hunzi

Hello All, from Southern Cal. I've been lurking aroung the sights and decided it was time to introduce myself. I'm happily living life as a 54 year old wife, mother of 4 and grandmother of 8. I'm a Layout Specialist, aka "dummy" at the newspaper, been there for over 23 years.

I was banded on June 2nd and the first 72 hours were rough! Thank goodness for the kids snow cone machine, so I can mix all those nasty protien drinks into slushes. The ice is great to chew on. I also figured out to eat/drink all my liquids from 1/4 teaspoon so I don't gulp. GULPING HURTS! Being 5 days out now, I'm feeling pretty darn good. I plan on going back to work on Monday. Thank goodness for this website! I was better prepared than I thought!

Hi everybody. I too am from Southern California. I am a lawyer working in the compliance department of a major health insurance company. I am 47 years old and am looking forward to being healthier.

I was scheduled for surgery on June 2nd after 4 months on the waiting list. They canceled surgery at the last minute due to a bad pre op test result on my thyroid. We should be able to get it under control soon and get me rescheduled. But boy - I was really looking forward to getting on to the next phase of my life.

Hi everyone!

I just got my date (6/26), so I wanted to introduce myself. I live in Georgia and I'm married to my very supportive husband for 10 years this year. We have a great son who is 6. I've been overweight my entire life, and I finally decided to get the band after many, many years of mulling it over. I finally decided that I'd rather do it sooner rather than later. Luckily, I'm quite healthy except for all this extra weight. I'm very nervous about this surgery, but I really feel this is something I MUST do.

Looking forward to getting to know you all.

I can't believe I am leaving tomorrow for Mexico and then Tuesday is "lap-band day"!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
