Who's getting banded in June

Recommended Posts

Ok, so I just got home from my nutrition class & GNC. WOW!!! I spent over $100 on supplements & Protein powder!!!! I wasn't too shocked, at the initial consultation they told the class that we would spend somewhere around $60 a month on supplements. I just have to also have the Protein Powder for the next 6-8 weeks.

I was actually glad when they said we need to have the Protein Drinks too. I was thinking how am I going to survive on broth for the next two weeks pre-op & then 4 weeks post-op??? Thankfully I get to have the protein drinks!

I am so excited!! I am not at all nervous, I don't think I will be either. I have had my tonsils out, 2 C-sections and a hysterectomy. This should be a walk in the park!!! I know I will be sore, but I am thinking positive. It will be a new beginning for the rest of my slim again life!!!

I hope this goes right. This is my first post. I will be banded on Friday June 13th. Scary, I know. I'm not too superstitious though. I think everything will be fine. I'm starting to get really nervous. I've had enough time to be excited, now it's just the nerves, lol. Anyway, if anyone has any advice on how to relax a little it would certainly be appreciated.

I am being banded on the 10th and I am like you starting to get a little more nervous as the date gets closer but one thing I do to relax and calm myself is come to this site and read and read and read. I also have been praying and thinking positive thoughts. :( You will do great. I think it is normal to be nervous.

hello everyone! I'm new here and I'm scheduled to be banded on June 12th. I feel like everything has gone so fast since my consultation on may 5th, but I couldn't be more excited and I feel so motivated! I have my pre-op appointment this thursday so I'm a bit nervous, especially about the anesthesia, but hopefully it will go well :-D

Best of luck to all of my fellow jazzy junes!

Hi Bella,

I know what you mean, I went to my seminar 4/26, my consult appt on 5/14 and surgery will be Thurs 6/4. During the process it seemed long and tedious but now that it's here it was like Wow! I can't believe it's here already!

I am really getting anxious about my band date. At first I could barely control my excitement. Now I'm going thru tons of different emotions. Everything from excitement, anger (because I have to wait!), sick of being fat and disgusted with myself, to not wanting to go out of the house until this is all over with. I keep telling myself to hang on, just 2 more weeks and I'll have my chance to be a new me. But it seems like it's never going to get here.

I don't guess it helps that my doctor is in the process of adjusting my hormones. That is a roller coaster ride in itself. And my son just graduated from high school and is moving out on Friday, June 6th. I guess it's just a lot going on. I hope I don't have too much resting on the surgery being the "fix all". Does that make any sense?

Thanks for listening!!

What kind of Protein Drink did you go for?

I got GNC Pro Performance whey isolate 28, chocolate flavor.

I had it this morning. Not all that I had hoped for. I am going to use my magic bullet to blend it with ice next time. I wish they would have had sample packets. I spent $40 on stuff I am not enjoying all that much.

I went to Super supplements & should have gotten some small sample size packets, but didn't because they are 45 minutes away from me & I had to have something to start with today. However I do have another appt tomorrow & I will stop by there & get some samples. I figure I will be at my Dr. office about once a month or so...... Super Supliments is just down the street from it.

I decided to also finish off the SlimFast low carb drinks I have in my fridge. That should get me through the 2 weeks if I have one I enjoy a day & 2 or 3 of the other stuff.

Wow, you do have a lot going on. I am also on the 17th. I am just plain excited. I started my clear liquid diet today. I am not totally thrilled about it, but it is very much worth it!!! I plan to succeed big time!

You can do it!! I heard that if you take up some hobby or something it helps to keep your mind off all the other stuff & the hunger. I have a lot of painting to do here in my home, so room by room I go.

Let me know how you are doing. I am rooting for you!!!!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
