Thank you so much for sharing your story! It really helped to alleviate my fears about the actual surgery part of this process!

Wow! I hope that my recovery goes as smoothly as yours has. I am worried because I am doing this all ALONE. I am travelling by myself, going through the surgery alone, returning alone, and recovering alone. I hope that I am strong enough to do it!

You are going to be fine. It may be a little scary but alot of people do it on their own. Also, from what I hear, many of the Dr's in Mexico have close contact with their people after the operations - while they are in the hospital. Also, if possible, make arragements to log on while you are recoving - it helped me alot to chat with others going through the same thing.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I won't be banded for several months so really can't say anything on that subject. However, having had 5 abdominal surgeries in my time....getting up and walking as soon as humanly possible even if it hurts is really the best thing that one can do to help the recovery process.

I just wanted to second that - getting up and moving around hurts but it is your friend long-term. I haven't been banded yet, but I've had two c-sections, and with the first they left the epidural in for 24 hours, which meant I stayed parked in bed. I was miserable for two weeks with that one. With the second I had a spinal (no catheter stayed in my back) and I was up moving around 8 hours after the delivery. When my daughter's pediatrician came in to see her the next morning, 24 hours after surgery, he thought she was a vaginal delivery since I was up, dressed and brushing my teeth and moving around like a normal person. So GET UP as soon as the nurse tells you it's safe, even if it hurts. You will be glad you did.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
