Ladies with large chests...

I get the problem even with expensive bras. I've been up as large as a 24G (now 18F) but cheap shops like Target don't go over a DD or occasionally E cup size here (Aus). I have to buy all my bras at specialty lingerie shops and haven't paid less than $75 for one in years (some up to $125 - coz I like the pretty ones!). It's bloody disheartening when you pay through the nose like that only to have the damned wire snap or poke through after only a couple of weeks or months, sometimes only a couple of wears! I can't wait to be able to fit into cheap Target bras - under $20 for a bra would be AMAZING! I'm hoping at goal I'll get back into an E - not sure...I've lost a LOT of weight in the boobs and they droop damned low, but the cup size goes up as the back goes down, so still in an F now

Have y'all heard of the butterfly bras? They are the ones that seem to have two backstraps, one for shape and one for support. I haven't tried one yet but I've heard great things about them.

Hi GALapband,

I've looked into the Butterfly bras, and unfortunately, they don't come in my size...they are sold at Ashley Stewart, and because they were endorsed by Jill Scott (I understand she helped to design them) I am definately going to try one on when / if I reach the range of cup sizes they are producing.

The look of the design would appear to be targeted toward the woman who has an issue with 'back fat'...I have it, but again, they don't make the cups in my size.

I had never heard of these...Tap excuses herself to go googling 'butterfuly bras'...

Hi ladies,

I'm another one whose boobs have done strange things since surgery. I've lost 55lbs, and my bra size has gone from 16E (40E) to 12G (34G). Random!

I wish the girls would shrink a little. Not too much, just down to a D? I was a D cup at 11 years old. That would mean that I can buy bras at a normal shop again -- in a 12G, I have the same problem as FannyAdams.... all my bras cost well over $100! Bloody hell, who has that kind of money for bras when you're in college!

Ugh. Anyway, those are my bra issues. The worst thing is, they've gotten super-saggy since I lost weight, and I guess they'll only get worse. I've been thinking about a breast lift when I reach goal, but I worry the effect of it will be ruined in a few years when I have kids. Anyway, all discussions for another time.

Annie.

When I had my sleep study for sleep apnea I was told I had more episodes on my side because my arms shoved my breasts into my airway. LOL. My boobs aren't even that big. 44 D but either way they made me have 12 episodes on my side and I had 7 on my back. Not severe but still lol. I can't wait until I can finally find bras...it's hard enough for me to find bras I can't even imagine the people in the E's, F's G's etc. Plus plus size bras are so damn expensive.

Can I recommend and online place? Its in Australia and specialises in larger sizes. Decent bras, made well in the E/F/G range sell for about $50.00 on average. There's one for $15.95 right now.

Shipment wouldn't be that expensive and would actually be cheaper over all if you buy a few bras at once. I've owned a few pairs myself and they really are well made and comfortable. Anyway, just check it out for yourself. Lisa's Lacies Plus Size Lingerie Remember, this is in Aussie dollars, so it will be cheaper if you come from the US or UK.

Oh and I don't know the people who own it, just like to buy from them

Thanks for that link, Sunwyse! I'm always on the lookout for new bra shops - it's my biggest shopping weakness! I just love lingerie!

Hi Everyone! I have something that fits on this thread.... I went for my mammogram last night and the tech was checking my films with last years and asked me if I have lost some weight???? I was shocked, now I have proof that they are shrinking. I told the girls at work, after all these years of being DDD what if I find out I am only a B and would need implants!!!!!!

Other part of the story... I told the tech that I got a lapband, and it turns out that her DH is having trouble getting approved for one. She had lots of questions and since she was already seeing the boobs I showed her how little the scars are. She was pretty impressed with my weightloss, and I wished her DH well wishes for getting approved!!!!! Small world!!!

For anyone reading this who has not had their surgery, I highly recommend discussing port placement before your surgery. For some reason, it never occured to me to ask my doctors where the port was going to be. When I'm standing, it's fine, but when I sit (especially because I hunch over - yes, I have poor posture!) my underwires really dig into my port and it's very uncomfortable. And there's nothing they can do, unless I have a tt.

Some bras are worse than others, but I really wish I had asked that question. I have to adjust my bra sometimes when I'm sitting and sometimes my port site gets really sore.

And I'm down to a 32H these days. Gah. Try finding THAT size. And a 32 is almost too big. I so wish I could have a reduction, but I probably can't. I have heart issues and am on blood thinners, so I can't imagine my docs letting me go through such an invasive surgery. I didn't have one when I was younger because I really wanted to be able to breastfeed. Considering that of my three children, only one nursed past four months old and even that was once a day (and except for that last baby, it was never a pleasant experience - I did it because I felt it was best for the baby), it was probably not worth putting off the reduction for, at least for me. Because not only am I huge, but I'm really saggy and have never been "perky" or firm. Oh well. My husband says he likes them. At least that's one of us.

Yeah my husband claims to like mine too! LOL I told him if he wants to carry the extra weight around with him and take it from me, he can keep 'em! :crying: Sorry about the port issue. That's what I was thinking when I created this thread... I spoke with my surgeon and he assured me it would be lower. I've heard some Dr.'s don't though. Good luck!

Hey ladies,

Went for what I hope is my last info session before being scheduled, and specifically asked the doctor about port placement. He was very firm about not giving us a 'choice' of where he puts the port, but I'm just as firm about not having it in a place where my underwire bras are going to irritate it!

I get the feeling I'm going to be one of those that marks her bra position on her body with a marker so he can't say he didn't know...I have one more one-on-one with the surgeon and the anesthesist prior to my surgery (hoping for a date before the end of October) so I'll re-emphasize it then as well.

I'm going to be stubborn about this - I can't give up my underwires yet - hopefully someday, but not yet!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
