Congrats to all of you with Tricare. I am with Tricare South and am approved. My surgery is May 1st-Dr. Michel Stephan in Mesquite, TX. This has been a wait! Waiting on Tricare to come around and I am so glad that they did. Took only two days to approve me.:(

I am TriWest, and I can't get over how easy this whole process has been.

On March 3rd, I told my family doctor that I was thinking about doing the Lap Band... she started the ball rolling for me. Also, I guess I should mention that she is my PCM, but an "off base" doctor. Had I said I wanted this on base I would of got a total different reaction.

On 3/17, I had my nutrition class.

On 3/27 I had my psyc eval.

On 3/31, I went to a support group, met other people with the band, and made up my mind I was going to do it.

On 4/16, I met Dr. Sufficool, who will be preforming my surgery. He seems great, and everyone I met at the support group loves him.

On 4/18, I had my physical (ekg, blood work and a chest xray).

On 4/24, my request was sent to Tricare.

TODAY (4/26), I got the approval email!!!

..and back on the 16th they penciled me in for 5/23 since I had specifically asked for it, and so far that is my surgery date.

I never thought this process would be so easy. I am a little scared, but looking forward to it. :smile2:

I'm so excited Triwest has approved my surgery. I did all the tests ahead of time on Travis AFB, psych eval and everything. So all I was waiting on was Tricare to come through for me and they finally did. 2 years ago I was a week out from surgery and they denined me of course because it wasn't an approved surgery. But now all I have to do is call my civilian Doc on Monday and schedule. I almost can't believe it's finally going to happen.

I'm also happy for all you others out there getting approved.

Take Care

I've heard conflicting things... like they only pay for fills for up to 12 months after the surgery? Anyone have any more info?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
