possibly getting first fill today, scared

Recommended Posts

I was banded on March 11th, and everything has been going great. However the last couple weeks the weight ahs sure slowed down coming off. I lost the first 50 pounds faily fast, but has slowed down alot. Going in for my first check up since the 1 week post op check up and am guess I will be getting some fill. I have been able to eat basically anything, i have yet had any bad experiences with anything. NO pb's. But I am starting to feel hungry alot and I suppose a fill will help with that.

Was just wondering how everyone else has been doing and what they can eat or are having problems with.

Hi Needtolose, I go in Friday for my first fill and I'm also nervous about it. Let me know if it hurt and how long it took to do it, I'm more nervous about them sticking me with the needle than anything..

I HATE needles and I ended up being one of those dreaded bandsters than needed 14 fills the first year. In all of those fills I only had one that hurt, but ofcourse it had to be my first fill which traumatized me for the next several. Now though I still hate needles and I still literally bite my knuckle while they do it in an effort to redirect my focus but honestly, since that first fill it has NEVER hurt. Infact many of them I didn't even realize they had stuck me until they said they were done. I just thought they were "marking" the spot with a pen before giving me the real shot.

All I can suggest is to remember to breath and try not to worry too much about it. Oh, and biting my knuckle really does work.

PS - Thin2beme if you bite your knuckle in front of Dr H. Tell him I suggested it he just might remember me as he use to always tease me about it before I switched docs to save money on fills.

I hate needles too. I got my first fill yesterday. I was very scared to. Not to scare you more, but it is not a pleasant feeling. I actually said, "you are not getting me back in this chair in four weeks".....lol. that is a lie, however I am glad to hear that I am not a woos. I suggest to relax and breath. good luck. you will be fine.

Had my first fill yesterday. It was such a breeze. I could not belive that it was over when she told me I was done. It's just a simple little pinch and then asquirt and done. I was amazed.

That's great everyone, but I am feeling very hunger now and again and I have to wait three weeks for my first band. So I am making sure I eat what I have to eat to make it till the first fill. What does it feel like after do you feel full or do you feel that you can eat more?

my first fill is tomorrow, I'm not worried about the pain as much as I'm worried about not feeling any restriction. I've gained about 4 pds and am ready to get this party started. Crystal

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
