First fill on Thurday . . .have questions.

Recommended Posts

I am having my first fill this Thursday. I have a few questions . . .

1. Are there any dietary restrictions immediately before getting a fill? For example, my appointment is in the afternoon, should I fast all day or is it ok to eat Breakfast and / or lunch?

2. After the fill, do you go back on liquids or mushies for a few days?

3. How long after the fill (minutes, hours, days) are you able to tell how much restriction you got from the fill.

Thanks for all the help! As a newly banded person, this website give me much needed encouragement.

My Dr has no food restriction the day of fill, but my appts are in the a.m. and I usually don;t eat, but I will have a Protein shake, if I feel like one. I prefer nothing be in my pouch, just in case.

I am to be on full liquids for two days, then soft food for two, then try solids again slowly.

I tend to get a tight feeling for 2 to 4 days,(from swelling from the fill process) starting the evening of the fill. It generally loosens up after that. Once you hit the sweet spot, the restriction should stay longer.

As you lose more wieght, you might need one or two small fills.

Hope that helps!

I just had my first fill this morning. It was at noon, and I called in the morn to ask about food intake prior and she said to have something light, but try to have nothing about 2 hrs before I arrive. We did a one-hour consult, then the fill part itself took about five minutes, which included weighing in.

The nurse inserted the needle into the wrong side, so i had to get poked twice, but it really doesn't hurt at all. Personally, I didn't feel a thing as she was filling it (3 cc's).

After, I went back into the waiting room to drink three small glasses of Water to make sure it was going down fine. A little gurgly but no problems. And that's it! I got to go home!

I've been told to be on "no lumps, bumps or chunks" for 24 hours. and don't be in a rush to get more food in me.

Good luck on thursday!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
