My doc too says carbonation can stretch the pouch out.

I liked the info about the band being too tight and the sensations one will get. Good info.

I shouldn't write until I've had adequate sleep...

I can have soda every once in a while and I have had no issues...I guess different things work and don't work for different people.

But how do you know that you haven't stretched your pouch already? You can't know. :D

I wouldn't risk it for pop, beer etc...there are soooo many tastier & safer things to cheat with. :)

I have a question, after seeing the video, but not about the carbonation. Do they always have to kinda "dig" searching for the port? that was the most uncomfortable thing to watch. i've had nurses "dig" for a vein for blood as well as for IVs, cant stand that. i have my first fill next week, and this makes me a little nervous

I saw another one that was a bit like that & yet another which was completed in 8 seconds flat. I think location of the port, flat or flipped, & person doing the fill, effect the result.

It's amazing how many people document every phase of their Lap Band experience on www.YouTubecom. Some are really quite informative. :D

It made me uncomforable to watch too. I've seen other clips where the doctor didn't have to 'dig' in order to get to it. The needle also looked different.

I couldn't take my eyes off of her "digging" .... That's never happened w/the 7 fills I have had. My port is a tad raised on the stomach since I've lost my belly fat & it's easily accessible. I must admit I cringed & I would have snapped up off the table w/all that poking - even w/numbing injection (not a fan of needles).

It also causes band slippage. Sodas are just a bad idea, anyway. Once, I read that if you have more sode than you do milk, your risk for osteoporosis raises 87%

OMGoodness! Did she just stick the needle in for the adjustment w/o anesthesia! Hope I just missed it. I'd die w/o it.

And for a 3rd fill, don't you think they'd hope for restriction? I didn't see her do what my doc does.... keep the needle in, sit up, drink. Then he will adjust if necessary. Then lie back down and take the needle out.

So glad you posted this video.... like patients, doctors are so different.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
