Banding on April 28

Recommended Posts

:) I finally got my Banding Date for April 28. I'm on my liquid diet now. BCBS of MN required a 6 month supervised diet and I completed that.

During the 6 months I worked hard and lost almost 30 pounds. I used MyDailyPlate.com to log all the food I ate during those six months. It is a great website and very helpful to track what you eat. I plan to use it once I'm banded to keep track of my Protein.

I'm not nervous about the surgery, but I am nervous about "Will I be successful?". I have spent the last 8 months reading all I can about Lapband and I know some people are successful and others aren't. I pray that I will be strong enough to do this for the rest of my life. I usually get discouraged with diet plans after about 6 months. I need to change my attitude to be "I know I can do this". This is my last chance at losing weight for good. It has been many years since I have weighed less than 200 and I try to imagine what it will feel like. I need some words of encouragement and this seems like the place to get it.

Linda

Hi Linda! Welcome to LBT!!

I think the key to success with the band is realizing that it is only a tool. You cannot continue eating the way you always have or you will not be successful. For most of us, deciding to get banded includes the decision to make total life changes about our attitudes regarding food and exercise. For those who don't make the decision to make the necessary lifestyle changes, any success with the band is likely to be short-lived. You have to make the decision everyday to stay on plan and know that you are not perfect and sometimes will "slip". That's ok. Tomorrow is another day and 1 day of failure does not mean a lifetime of being fat. You just pick yourself up and move on.

Good luck to you!!

Good Luck, we are almost the same age. I keep worrying I waited to late in life to do something this serious. But with Gods help this will be my answer. I have never been smaller than a 14-16 & that didn't last very long. I need to loose at least 100 lbs. Good luck let me know how you do.

Thank for the words of encouragement. Clarakay, I'm sure you will do well with the Lap Band. It is harder to lose weight and keep it off when you get older. That's one reason I need the LapBand to help me succeed. I had 100 pounds to lose and am now down 30 pounds while I was on my 6 month supervised diet. Still have 70 to go. It has been 35 years since I was at my goal weight and I can't imagine what it will feel like. I'm sure I will have some baggy skin, but I can live with that. Don't plan to wear any bikini's.

I'm on the liquid diet and it isn't that bad. I'm so excited about my surgery I can live without solid food for awhile.

Good Luck everyone

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
