Seminar brought me to tears

Recommended Posts

I went to my first informative seminar on Lap band surgery recently. I didn't know what to expect and I was so pleasantly suprised. There was a woman there who got up and spoke about her success....she lost 235 pounds! And she looked fabulous! It was really the first time in my life that I had hope of finally losing the extra weight I've been carrying most of my life. I was so happy that I had tears in my eyes. I was sharing this story with a co-worker who's going to have Lap band surgery soon and she understood. Only an overweight person can understand this feeling. Thank you all for your postings and the great information. I hope to have Lap band surgery this summer (if all goes well). Good luck to you all!

YEA for you both! The lapband has changed my life for the better in SO many ways. There is work you have to do, but the lapband keeps you on track. Before, I would lose the weight, but just put it right back on. Now, the weight is staying off and people are really noticing. I think I have had about 5 co-workers I didn't tell ask me what I am doing to lose the weight just this week. That has never happened before. You are making a GREAT decision! I can't wait to hear about your success in the near future!:cool2::lol:

Yes congratulations to both of you. While I don't go around shouting to all that the band is some miracle cure everyone should do. It has definitely been a true blessing for me.

And I can remember well even 3 years later how attending my first seminar brought tears to my eyes as well. It wasn't just the inspirational stories of those who had come before me but also that there had to have been well over 200 people in the room. It was so full there wasn't even enough chairs and many of us were standing in the back. And this was only one of probably 2 a week that were held by different docs around town. I saw so many people just like me, men, women, old, young, of different income levels and ethnic backgrounds and yet we were all the same. And I was not the only one with tears in my eyes that night.

Good luck to both of you on this journey and welcome to Lapbandtalk.

Hi Lisa! I completely understand what you are saying and you are right, anyone who hasn't been where we are just has no idea what we go through. Good luck to you!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
