how long before you can go swimming????

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone. I'm new here. I am at the begining of my LAPBAND journey; have to have gallbladder removal first to pave the way for the next step of attempting to get approved for LB.

How long is the typical post-op wait after LB surgery before you can go swimming in a pool or ocean?

Thanks!:)

I wouldn't go in the ocean until I knew I was completely healed. As for closed Water swimming, I *think* my surgeon's guidelines recommended 6 weeks, but I could be wrong, it's been a while. Make sure to ask your surgeon if you don't get any info on recovery activities.

GB and band are very similar (untechnically) procedures. I've had both, and 3/5 incisions were reused, timing was similar, post-op experience similar. If you've been given waiting guides for GB, and are using the same surgeon, chances are the waits will be the same.

BTW, unless it's required for your approval, banding and GB removal can be done during the same procedure... saves you a trip under.

I swim a lot too and I was told I had to wait until all my incisions healed which was one month after surgery.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
