I called Dr. Miles office yesterday and spoke to Ashley, I just love her. I asked what the norm is for pregnancy and she said to do a complete unfill... not what I wanted to hear! I called her back today and scheduled to go Friday afternoon on our way to Mississippi for the unfill. Dr. Schmitt is the only one who will be there to do it. DO TELL....... Anyone had him for fills or unfills? Is he as good as Lisa? I've heard some stories about Dr. Miles haha.

Hey Saved I had him for an unfill and he was pretty good. I didn't have any problems with him. Oh and by the way Congrats.:smile2:

Hi yall,

Things here are hectic, we have 2 wild boys playing ball, work is insanely busy.. and I dunno if the 4th fill was "the one" or not. I do however know I need to drink more water... so I gotta find one of those insulated jugs for my desk b/c I need Water SUPER cold. Also went to Walmart and finally found the 26g Protein Shots, however the flipping box was EMPTY, just my luck!

Anyway hope yall are doing good? Well I am tired and bout to hit the hay. This RAIN makes me so flipping tired... and I am TIRED of RAIN~!

Question? What are the 26G Protein shots? Any details would be great including price.

I found the PERFECT shake at costco -made by Premier Nutrition - white container, only found it in chocolate. 30grams of Protein, 160 cals for the whole shake and filling - taste is not AWESOME but good -especially cold. LOW fat (3g total), low sodium (330mg), only 5 carbs. TONS of Vitamins and minerals. Price is about $28-$30 for 18 shakes - pretty good price. I found them at the Costco in Hoover by the Galleria. Wish I had them when I had my surgery a year ago!!

The 26g Protein Shots are in like a test tube looking thing...they have them at Walmart and GNC Its basically like 2 shots of Protein so youre not having to drink a whole nasty shake and for me these are actually tolerable. At walmart I have seen them in the pharmacy section and in the work out equipment section. Hope this helps.

yes the Protein Shots are nice. i been taking them for a liitle time now. the easiest way to get in your Protein.< /p>

i take one a day. but you better get there when they put them out, because they sale fast. im the one that usually buys them up in attalla Walmart. lol

on a side note i have gave this site/fourm out to about 20 people in the last month and non of them i have seen join up. i cant stress myself enought about the support it takes to get the weight lost we need. im just upset i guess at somepeople for wanting help but doesnt follow up with it.

i did have robin the guy from the support group call and ask me a question abot a pain he was having. that made me feel good. i guess because someone needed me instead of me always looking for the help. i have been really thinking about looking into some type of job our volunter help i could do in this line of work. i know theres alot of people that needs it and just dont know our want to ask for it. hell i was that person about 1 and half years ago.

well time for a shower i just got done working in the yard. and afer working 10 hours lasty night fixing a well motor and replacing over 300 feet of well pipe im ready for some rest.

how did it go last night kaninag? sorry i couldnt make it. but thats my luck!!!!!

This is totally off the weight-loss / lapband forum norm but I am getting really desperate.

I wanted to reach out to the Birmingham area folks to see if anyone knows of any job openings. My background is in Human Resources but I can also do office management and administrative assistant/executive assistant work. I got laid off from my job in JUNE - got another job fairly quickly in JULY - then got laid off from the new job in November. I cannot find a job that pays NEARLY what I need in order to make my bills - it's really ridiculous.

I know that networking is one of the best ways to find a job. If anyone knows of anything out there - please let me know. I really appreciate any help or leads I can get!! Thanks so much and have a HAPPY Easter!!

Hello everybody! I have been out of the loop, I've been so busy at work, but I do keep up. I think I finally have THE fill. I got it six weeks ago and I can really feel it. I think it was my 4th or 5th. Anyway, have been really down on myself because I hadn't been losing, but maintaining. That period of Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine's Day, my birthday (which conincides with Girl Scout Cookie delivery week) has always been the time period when I have given up and gone back to poor eating habits. Then I realized, I didn't do that this time. Sure I didn't really lose much, but I didn't gain either and then last week I hit "ONE"derland!!!! That has really spurred me on and I feel much better. You guys are all doing so great, you really inspire me and I'm sure a lot of people who don't even write (don't be afraid people, you can help someone whether you know it or not).

I love the Protein Shots, too! But evidently, Jason is buying them everywhere! I had bought up all the ones in Sylacauga's Wal-Mart and now they don't even sell them anymore. Chelsea's Wal-Mart had them when I had plenty, now they don't have them. I'm going to have to find them online, I guess. The only ones I find at GNC are 42 gms of Protein, which is great, but they have twice as many calories. Guess I could just do a half at a time??

I wish I could be at this month's meeting, but I'll be in Las Vegas!

Thanks to all of you, love you guys!!!!

Way to go Di!! You are rockin!!

Isn't it weird looking back and comparing now to then??? I love it that I am no longer a slave to food. I still struggle with the "emotional" parts to eating, but I usually work it out and get through it.

I cannot find the Protein Shots any more either. Seems like the Demand would be enough to keep them on the shelf. Who knows...

Have fun in Vegas Di!! We are hoping to go in August. The rates are too good to pass up now! Let me know how it goes!

Hope everyone is well!!

=)

I've been shopping online for the Protein Shots, and I don't see them anywhere. However, over to the right (an ad onthis page), there are some on fitnessfirstusa.com and they have some with 42 gms of Protein and they have 176 calories. Not as bad as the ones at GNC (who have this kind also) that are over 200 calories. They have a smaller size too, which has 25 gms of protein, I think. That website has them cheaper than anywhere, too, although I've never heard of them. I'll go ahead and order some and let you guys know.................

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
