I'm very happy to finally have a surgery date but he kept stressing that I have fat in the upper stomach area that needs to go and that to get the best results I need to lose that. I plan to lose another 10 or more this month. I'll work my butt off to do it, and thats pretty literal. My butt is where it comes off. If I lose another 10 lbs I'll be a size 8, I could actually fit in a snug 8 now if it weren't for the apron.

I had on my 10's yesterday and they were baggy in the butt and I said to my dh look where that 5 lbs came off, if I lose anymore I'm not gonna have a butt - he just smiled and said you'll always have a butt.

I hope with this Tummy Tuck I'll finally look portioned nice. Oh to have a flat tummy - tell me its possible.

When the doctor was talking about my belly fat, which he's not concerned about the lower fat/flab/flap just the upper fat thats under the ribcage - anyhoo when he was talking about it, my dd who is 17 said but she always had a tummy, even I have a tummy. She's a size 3. He said thats true bc you have the inner fat (heritary) which I can't do anything about.

My dd also told him at one point - now don't make her as small as me. Then she told him that her and her 21 y/o sister don't want me to get smaller then them. Which is when I chimed in and said about being happy with the size I am without the belly, I'm 46 I don't want to look 17 again.

Oh well today is a new day and I'm going to make a new ticker to count down my days to til I make it to the flatlands!

LJM - I can't wait to see your updated pics! Was your ps pushing you to lose more weight before surgery?

I think by the time we were done talking he was ok with me getting it done now. I think he thought that I was using the tt as a means of weight loss. Then as we talked and he would ask do you have any questions and I would say yes... I did do research and... blah blah blah... so by the time we were done he said I think you are ready for this, I can see through your questions and research that you have thought this through. I think it also helped by having my dd with me and her piping in and saying hey I don't want her to be MY size.

no, he didnt push, but i am now really wishing i would have lost that 20 pounds that i wanted to lose before. i was having a really difficult time losing the weight (i was completely unfilled about 2 1/2 weeks before my PS due to being REALLY tight with the stress of the PS)

my pics will be up on my blog in about 5-10 minutes. i cant see much difference between the 20 & 27 day pics ... of course DH zoomed in more for the 27 day pics, so it looks a little skewed.

but you can see that 'pouch' of fat on my left. i was really hoping the pulling of the skin with the TT would take care of it completely. it lessened it, but didnt get rid of it.

I didnt see the pouch but sometimes we notice things more then someone else that looks at it.

I did talk to the dr about how you had no drains and he said how they use a glue - and went into detail about that, but he (and my sister) said the drains really aren't that big of a deal and that he thinks only 3 days unless theres some bleeding or something like that. And the way I'm understanding it, I'll be in for 3 days so it sounds like I'll come home without the drains. I need to check on that bc I might have misunderstood him. Anyway you look MARVVVVVolous Darling - I hope I have as good of results as you and Karey - you too really have been an encouragement to me.

Oh and the unfill - yep my band dr wants me unfilled too , but just a day or 2 prior and he PROMISED me I can get my whole fill back the next week. So until then I'm working my butt off to get these last 10 or hopefully 20 lbs off.

i circled the pooch/pouch and posted it ... it's an annoying little F'er...

3 days in the hospital ... ahhhhh, i would have loved to stay 3 days ... they pampered me. hopefully you will get the same treatment. and drains out on day 3 sounds good.

thanks for the mahhhhvelous comment ... i just dont see it. all i see is the swelling and the work i still have to do ... and MOST days im ok with that... most days.

i was originally scheduled for my unfill the day before my PS, but due to my stress levels i was so tight i couldnt even drink... so i just got the unfill early. they wouldnt completely fill me up right after, they wanted to do it under fluro and when it said i was done, i was done ... so i was missing 4cc's. went in yesterday to get it taken care of. hopefully that will help.

ok - I see it now - if you wouldn't have circled it I wouldn't have noticed. Whats that from? I understood from my ps that the top part of my stomach had inner fat. Would that still cause a pouch? Hmmm interesting.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
