StephC's PS journey/I got approved!!

Hi Ladies, my before pics probably look about the same. My friend has them on her camera so hopefully I will post them in a week or 2. You are not going to belive how great the TT really is. I can honestly say this is the best cosmetic thing I've ever done. I am not in size 16 which was my goal. I only want to get to 200 lbs and as of yesterday I was about 10-15 lbs from that. I lost 6 lbs during ps and it finally showed on the scale. The funny thing is that I have lost my appetite as well so I started to lose again. I go back in for a fill in about 10 days. Good luck on Thursday!

Julie I tried to heed what you said about unfilling too early. I am scheduled for a total unfill on the 13th, I leave for TX on our trip on the 16th-and will be with all bandsters so hopefully they can help keep me in control! Then I return on the 19th for surgery on the 20th.

I have a question for you! Did you have to do the drink thing to clean out your system before surgery? Or was it simply nothing after midnight? I have been told both---------and forgot to ask. I will ask him the 12th when I see him the last time before surgery!!

I am sooooo hoping for pretty results---but it all has to be better than where I am!!

You recovering so quickly has made me feel so much more relaxed! I have surgery on the 20th, and DH has to go to Denver on the 23rd. My DD, my Mom, and my best friend have all offered to come and stay, so I will let them decide who comes when among themselves, heck we may all end up here!!! He is freaking out over it, but it cannot be helped so....we go with it, he will be home the evening of the 24th or the 25th, depending on how things go. Anyway, seeing you up and posting, and saying you are ok, has helped immensley!!! Continued good healing.

I cannot imagine where Steph is now, excitement would be all consuming!! I have over 3 weeks, and can hardly contain myself!!!

geesh you guys are all so sweet, I think I look horrible! Not just my belly but my fat thighs too. I hope I have good results but in the back of my mind I can't help but wonder if it is really going to turn out good. I know everyone else has had such good results but its just so hard to imagine that its even happening for me.

Kat you said about excitement being all consuming. YES! Heck YEAH! I took a sleep pill tonight in hopes that I'll sleep all night without waking in the night thinking about it. Seriously its all consuming!

Luckily I have a busy next couple of days - of course I work all day M-W then Monday night is a honors banquet for dd, Tuesday is a fundraiser for the church kids, Wed after work I get my UNfill and take my dogs to the groomer and I'm sure I'll be freaked out and going crazy with the house, laundry and all the last minute stuff I'll think about. So its like I'm going to bed tonight and wake up for surgery. I wish.

I took some more pre-op pics in my older dd's bikini - well it has a longer top and bikini bottoms, but I'll wait to post that after surgery - hopefully with my new tummy.

As far as something to clean me out before surgery? No - just nothing to eat or drink after midnight - for an 8am surgery. Thank goodness. I had my bladder lifted a few years ago and they made me drink that nasty diarrhea inducing stuff.

Thats cool they did the laser hair removal, I assume they'll shave me. I don't know about the mons lift, I think he said it'll get pulled tighter when they stitch me up but I don't think I have too much excess there.

I don't know if I mentioned this earlier but the lady from my church that had Dr.Borkow said she was out the next day. He had told me to be prepared to be in 3 days but I'm hoping that I'll be out the next day, that'd be great. I'll post as soon as I'm up to it.

Julie you seem to be doing so good. Its really encouraging for me bc I have things that week that I need to be at. How were you feeling on day 5? Were you able to get up and around pretty good? Thats the day I have to go in to work for payroll, only for about an hour or 2. Then on day 8 is dd's senior day at track so I have to walk out on the field with her (in front of everyone) so I'm hoping I'm able to walk pretty good by then.

Thanks again - I'll be back before Thursday.

Hi Kat, he didn't give me anything to clean me out. I took a laxative 4 days after surgery so I was able to go on day 5. That realy helped.

Hi Steph, I think doing things day 5 and 8 is a little agressive. If you can get at least 1 drain out and hide the other and wash your hair in the kitchen sink you may be okay. I do feel okay but am tired. I've only had a 15 minute outing since surgery. Looking forward to getting the final drain out this week so I can shower. Good luck Thursday.

Steph....I'm so excited for you. Not much longer. Wow, it's going to be so great and you'll finally look as good as you feel. Not that you look bad now, don't get me wrong, but girl, that new body will just match the beautiful person you already are!

aahh thanks Becky you're so sweet - I hope it all turns out good. But like I said before its gotta be better then what it is now.

Julie - day 5 I need to come into work for a little bit, but we are closed on Mondays so I'll be the only one here so I can come in my jammies if I need to. And I'm only 2 miles from my house so its not such a big deal, I figure if I'm not up to coming over by myself I'll have dh bring me over in the evening, I can do everything I need to in about a half hour. But day 8 is my dd's senior night for track and the parents walk out on the field with the kids. I also figure I'll just park up close and just get out of the car when I need to walk out. I'm a pretty fast healer. When I got banded I had it done on Monday and was out shopping on Thursday - I know this is alot more intense then the band but still I think I'll do ok.

Compression garments is one of the big reasons I wanted my surgery before I am having it. But I figure, I have dealt with heat rash under the apron for lotsa years, one with this is gonna be ok!!!! Tryin' to find a bright side here to the squeeze!!!

Amy said she's not wearing hers anymore so thats encouraging. I guess its an individual thing. My dr also said the same as Amy's about only wearing the spandx underwear or like under armor for comfort. I'm hoping by July I'm able to go without.

Can't believe its only 2 days!

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
