Got My First Fill!!

Recommended Posts

Hey gang...

Got my first fill this morning and it was easy and painless!! My doc usually doesn't do fills until 5-6 weeks post op, but he agreed to do a "min-fill" to get me started. He put 1.5cc's in my 10cc band. He had me lie down, did a slight pin prick to access the port and then sat me up. He had me slowly sip Water and told me if I felt any discomfort or if I felt the Water come back up to tell him. I thought he did it under fluoro, but he didn't. I was really nervous and had that nervous feeling in my tummy, so after about 4 sips I told him I felt something and he backed off. I realize now that it was probably just nerve pangs and not anything from the fill. I'm ok with starting off with a mini-fill, I still have a little restriction from the surgery so we'll see if I feel a little more in the next couple of days. I'm on liquids for the rest of today and tomorrow, mushies for a day and then transition into solids. I think it will be much easier moving forward knowing what to expect. Got my next appt for April 2nd. Good luck to all of you with your upcoming fills. Let us know how it goes. And to everyone else on pre/post op diets.....STICK WITH IT! You'll be glad you did!!

Amy

Congratz Amy on your first fill! Even though a small one, it's still a fill! You're doing so good! I'm not afraid of needles, but I know I'm gonna be a little nervous when I get my first fill too. Just something about poking around in the stomach area! I see my doctor for my first follow-up visit next Monday. I'm pretty sure he said in the initial consultation visit that he "numbs" the area first . . . did your doctor do that?

I feel so good! Like I never have surgery! but my weight loss seems to have slowed down . . . I got used to losing almost a pound a day, lol. I've increased my exercise from 15 minutes to a 30 minutes, and making sure I get at least a mile in. Being barely two weeks post-op, I just don't want to over-do. I'll have to ask my doctor on Monday what's safe. I wish I could get outside! It just snowed 4 inches here last night :bored:. Ah well, soon enough! And I think I'm now entering (at least starting) "Bandster hell" . . . I'm *hungry*! lol . . . still sticking to my diet though, still under 1100 calories and eating mushies. Soft foods will introduced tomorrow!

Thanks again for sharing your story Amy! I always love hearing from you, then I know what's coming next! hehe  I know I have some time to go yet, but I just can't wait for that fill. Just taking time to heal for now!

Big hugs and keep up the great work! :mad2:

Congratulations. You are paving the way for the rest of us. Your second fill is before my first one. Good luck and let us know how you feel in a few days. I'm nervous about my first fill and I can't wait to get it. Is that crazy or what?

Take care!

Tomorrow ladies...tomorrow at 3pm EST I'm gettin' that fill. And it couldn't come at a better time. I'm starving!

Amy - thanks for sharing your experience. I'm not nervous about the needles, but I'm worried that I won't know what restriction feels like while

I'm drinking Water - and I'll tell him to stop too soon or too late!

My doctor does the numbing too - but I think I'll tell him not to bother. I'd rather take one stick than bother with numbing - which usually stings more than the actual stick!

ooh, I'm so excited! Also excited to weigh in at the doctor's office. I'm half a pound away from a 40 lb. loss overall - and I'd love to make it by tomorrow. But I doubt that I'll get the same result at 3pm at Dr.'s office fully clothed than I get first thing in the morning after I pee. I am prepared to strip down to my wedding ring in front of the whole office if needed!

Thanks for sharing your first fill experience!! MIne will be March 13th, and I am nervous, not about the needle, just the whole thing-will I know if it is ok, or if it is too much of a fill, etc...

I was in bandster Hell for awhile, but now the hunger is either starting to slack off, or I am getting used to the sensation-can't say I ever had it too much before the band- I rarely got hungry because I ate all the time!!!

It really is helping to read this forum, it has eased a lot of my anxiety...

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
