HELP - Keeping food in me!!!

Recommended Posts

Hi, I am new to the chat room. I was banded on 11/19/07 and have lost 45 lbs so far. I have had 2 fills so far and am having some difficulty recently. It seems for the past 4 days no matter what I eat, it is not staying down. I am hoping it is a temporary issue and possibly just a phase. Has anyone else had this isue? HELP!

I would call your doc to see about a slight unfill. Congrats on the weight loss, but when you cant keep anythign down its a sign something is wrong. It may just be some simple stomach irritation and a slight unfill will help, but only your doctor can tell you what you should do. Good luck and keep us posted.

Cgrossholz-Are you taking very small bites and chewing thoroughly? This is the most difficult part for me to this day. Also, once you vomit the food, you should go on liquids for the remainder of the day until the swelling goes down. If you continue to try to eat solids, you cause further irritation and swelling creating a vicious cycle of vomiting. Been there...done that. Do liquids but call your doc as well.

I would like to say thanks to all for your suggestions and words of encouragement.

I called my doctor and had him unfill my band. I am hoping that this will not hinder my weight lose or discourage me in the great progress I have had so far.

Yes, I went through phases where sometimes that would happen.

But going a few days, even weeks w/o food isn't going to hurt anything. Your body is stronger than what you think.

that happens to me every so often. i had surgery 2 years ago. i just go back to a soft food or liquid diet until it passes. although one time i couldn't even keep down Water to so i went to the dr. i looked bad. my eyes were sunken and i was pale. he deflated my band and ran tests to make sure it wasn't band slippage. eventually i got better and slowly got refilled. i think it was a cold pill i had taken. it was a huge gel-cap and it think it obstructed my band and wouldn't pass. but i'm all better now and refilled!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
