29Feb - losingjusme's plastics day

Hey, LJM....glad to finally get on and read about your surgery. I did think about you and pray for you on the day, just couldn't eek out a chance to peek. Sounds like things went well and those photos are amazing...love the 'pants' one. That before frontal could be me -- my pann. gives that 'faux hips' look, too. I can't WAIT to be where you are some day!

You are an inspiration and SUCH a trooper to post through the pain and drugs!

Love ya, Gal!!!!

karey,

breathe

believe

be happy ...

you'll do great. i cannot believe how much better i feel today than the past 2 days. i got up out of bed by myself and even went to the bathroom by myself. (nothing says I Love You like your DH having to wipe your rear ... TMI i know)

you will do great!

im compiling 3 day pics now, will post soon.

just took these this morning. i have the binder up a little higher to help control the swelling in my upper tummy.

today is a lot better so far. things are ummm.. 'moving along' and had one of my top 10 most embarrassing moments yesterday... had to ask DH to take care of it... not a fun thing to do - for either of us im sure... but this morning, all was fine and i could do everything on my own... yay! small victories, right??

so here are my 3 day pics... i cant really tell much of a difference from 2 and 3 day, but i'll compare them at 2 and 7 maybe... still really swollen... really swollen, but it will get better, i know. i am a full 7 inches bigger in my waist than the day before surgery!!

im going to order my new garment today. i need to get it quickly, my binder is quite nasty and cannot be dried in a dryer. i dont want to go too long without anything...

my body temp is still really fluctuating... im never at a good state... either REALLY warm or freezing. hopefully that will regulate within a week or so  yeah, right.

WOW!

Even with the pain and puffiness it must be wildly apparent that it feels great to have that pannus removed. Just think - you will be able to run like people run in their dreams. Long, leaping steps bounding effortlessly through beautiful hills and valleys - free of that bouncing bag of yesterday. How fabulous it will be!! Best wishes and thanks for sharing the experience.

Hey babe!

Just ride the swelling out hon, it is a frickin nightmare but it will go. I still get swollen the minute I start bending and picking up - or anything else for that matter.

We just have to keep on thinking about the end result and you know that your waist is swollen 7" bigger so imagine how the rest of you is feeling!

I had to suffer the worst case of the trots that I have EVER had 2 days out of sx, I went 46 ( yes that is not a typo ) 46!! fricking times in one day, I still dont know how I managed!

Oh and dont weigh yourself until you know that the swelling has gone or you will freak yourself out!

Nina x

Oh LJM - I feel your pain.

My husband was totally against me having the TT and I knew that, yet I still thought he'd be a l-i-t-t-l-e compassionate, helpful, etc. Wrong.

I had my surgery on Tuesday and a dear friend stayed with me at the hospital (husband left as soon as I got out of recovery - our son had baseball is his story) and she came home with me until Friday night. Saturday morning everyone was out of the house by 8am for various activities and I had the most GLORIOUS weekend - free of my annoying, irritating and loud family.

Now if they'd just go away again . . . ha.

As long as you can get up and down by yourself, you'll be fine. My advice is don't attempt to shower while your home alone though - that is what really wore me out the first week.

I AM INTERESTED IN THE FREE HUSBAND! Does he cook, OR clean? RARE TO FIND ONE THAT DOES BOTH(MAYBE NEITHER)? I GOT RID OF ONE 2 MONTHS AGO, SO THE HONEY-DO LIST IS RACKING UP... send him my way, and after all the work is done...2-3 days I'll send him back home, or on to the next lady with honey-do list. Deal?

Hehehehehe....

Last week we went out to dinner with friends. After the 4th or 5th time he corrected me, I lovingly reached over and brushed the hair off his forhead. I touched a spot right over his eyebrow and told everyone, "THAT'S where the bullet's going...."

All I need is a female judge...

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
