I was hungry this past weekend. so went and bought some cream of wheat. It is ok on full liquids with my DR. Thought I would hate it, but it was not all thet bad. Of course I added some slpenda brown sugar blend for flavor. I figure it will be my safety food when huger strikes..

now to pooping, not an issue for me... but I can feel for all of you who have the issue. must be my IBS keeping me cleaned out lol.

Still no word on my weight loss. I have no scale here at home and if i did would be on it several times a day. Will weigh in Friday at post op. Once back to work I have access to a scale and I weighed myself the day before surgery so have that baseline to work with.

Yesterday I did lots of walking, went shopping with my daughter at a super-WalMart. Gosh that place is huge. Made sure to have my Water with me. I find when out for a few hours the water really helps me feel better.

I'm still having bad gas pain in my shoulder and neck and it's been 5 days since surgery. Anyone else had/having this experience? :confused2:

Good luck to those scheduled for surgery on 3/31! That finishes out our Shrinking Shamrocks. Now we just have to get busy and SHRINK! Did anyone ever count to see how many of us there are? We should figure out a way to keep track of our total pounds lost in the next year.

Hello March bandsters,

Hope all is well???

I had my band in on March 26th so far I have lost 8 lbs. I just wanted to ask if anyone is having sharp pains around the port area. I have them sometimes when I sit and really bad when I drive. I just started driving yesterday just a quick trip to the grocery store and this morning taking my kids to school. The pain was so bad it feels like a knife stabbing me.

blue, gas pains held on for me for about 7-10 days. heating pad on shoulder helps great, as well as gas-X strips..

blue, i also had the shoulder gas pains for about 10 days to me that was the worst part of the whole experience. i used the heating pad and that helped and laying on my back seemed to help. I am 2 weeks out today and every now and then ill get a little in my shoulder blade but its not bad and dont last long.

Gas pains gone at 7 days post op. Finally pooped yesterday! Was getting a bit concerned about that. My steristrips are still on and very itchy at times. I can't wait until I am comfortable sleeping on my tummy again.

Yesterday I found myself sitting in our big stuffed rocking chair with my legs folded beneath me. It was comfortable and they did not fall asleep within minutes. I guess 21 pounds really are gone. Not feeling it in any other way though.

Today was supposed to be my first day back at work, but I had to call sick b/c DD is sick. I'll probably go in on Thursday since I am off on Weds anyway and tomorrow is a no because DD has a fever and the poops now, no more puking though, that was waaaaay too much bending to clean and scrub floors for my post op belly.

Have a great day everyone!!

Christine

I had my first fill today! Now I'm back on liquids for 3 days. I really really hope I can feel the restriction when I'm able to start eating.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
