Recommended Posts

Just found out my surgery date is set for March 21. Anyone else being banded this day, maybe we can become friends and compare notes.

Maybe me! I had my pre-op appointment scheduled for today but I had to cancel it. Took my 2 1/2 year old son to the doctor yesterday and he has pneumonia and strep throat. When I set my pre-op appt., I told the nurse that I had already put myself on their 2 week pre-op diet and wanted to have it done on the 7th. Well, since my son is sick and I had to push back my pre-op I think I'm going to have it done on the 21st. I don't get any vacation until the 20th and if I was able to get it done before then, i was going to do it on a Friday and go back to work the following Monday. But now since I'm already pushing it back one week, two weeks won't kill me plus I'll have vacation and can "afford" to take more than just one day off. Not push myself too hard. Know what I mean? Doing the surgery and having to take care of 4 kids pretty much by myself will be hard enough (DH works A LOT) not to mention having to rush right back to work.

I'll know for sure next Tuesday, that's when I rescheduled my pre-op.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that you get your date soon, that would be great if we could be banded on or around the same time. It looks like your starting weight at your consultation is just about where I started at my initial consultation. I'm 5'4" so I'm going to shoot for a goal of 150-160 to begin with but might try to go lower when I get there. I'm going to have to add some exercise to my daily routine to help keep my metabolism going and have yet to do that. I'll get my rear in gear one of these days. Keep me posted on your date.

Right now my doctor just has me staying away from fatty foods and doing Protein Drinks twice a day and making good food choices until March 19 when I start the liquids only pre-op diet. I'm glad to know there is someone else getting banded the same day as me, I've been afraid that my doctor might want to reschedule my surgery since that is Good Friday and it didn't appear anyone else was being banded that day. Glad I don't have to do the liquids this far in advance, I'm still experimenting with Protein drinks and have only found 1 so far that I'm happy with. It's nectar Sweet chocolate Truffle with 46 grams of protein mixed with 16 oz Water made by Syntrax. Hope I find something else before the 19th, I'm not liking Isopure, Cytosport, New Whey. I have some Unjury that I haven't tried yet, maybe it will be good, guess I'll find out. We'll have to keep in touch and compare notes since we'll be going thru this together!

I'm also getting banded on March 21st. Just set the date today! Started the liquid diet this past Saturday. Had planned for a surgery date just a little before the 21st so that's why i started liquids a little early but now that i've started i figured i might as well keep going.

I'll have to put up a signature soon, but my basic stats are:

H - 5'2"

Pre-Op - 199

Goal 1 - 136 (Normal BMI)

Goal 2 - 125

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
