03/03/08 Banders, how you doing?

Recommended Posts

Hey March 3rder's! I'm getting a little nervous but more excited to start this journey. I just wanted to check in with all the other 3rder's and see how everyone is doing. I'm going for my pre-op tomorrow. Have already pre-registered at KU Medical Center and just want to get past the 3rd.

I only have to do one day of liquid diet prior to surgery day and am pretty happy about that.

Tomorrow night is going to be my farewell to BEER!! I bowl just to drink beer! lol Not really, well kinda. I'm going to miss my beersies A LOT! But it is so worth it to give it up. That's probably what helped me gain a lot of this weight in the first place. :smile2:

Any of you worried about certain things you will be giving up?

Take Care 3rder's, looking forward to comparing notes on March 4th!

Terri

hey all... just 5 days to go and i'm getting nervous too. have been quelling the nerves by shopping for my post-op week at home, checking these boards every 5 minutes and reading anything/everything i can find on and offline re: the band. in between all that, i've been playing tennis, going to the gym and, well... ordering in too much thai and diner food for dinner. let's call it a farewell tour of take out places.

anyone else on a similar tour? or am i the only one on a last-meal trip around the neighborhood?!

OMG Hungry4Help! I have had so many "lasts". : ) I ate steak Tuesday night, yummy! I had rolls with Sunday dinner...totally had to many! My farewell to beer is tomorrow night...and I'm going to go eat a BIG BOYS Italian Steak sandwich this weekend. YES! I'm totally have my lasts!

What kind of post op foods are you stocking up on? I'm going to my pre-op appt. tomorrow and am sure they will give me a list but curious as to what all the rest of you are stocking up on.

I'm definitely getting some GAS-X Strips cause it sounds like we will need them. I plan on eating the hell out of Hot And Sour Soup post op but not sure when to go to mushies. I'm nervous!

Thanks to you all for sharing!

Happy Weight Loss!

WOW NANA! You've been on liquids since Feb. 19th? Isn't that strange how some docs make their patients do this two weeks prior, some 3 days, and some, like mine one day prior. I wonder how come the inconsistency?

I'm going to ask my doctor about the REALIZE band Nana. I've just been reading about it but not sure what my doc uses. I hope its the REALIZE band though. Please let me know how you are doing with that type of band. BEST WISHES Nana!

Happy Weight Loss!

We're almost there all! I've been on my liquid diet today and it hasn't been to bad. I'm just glad my doc only made me do the liquid diet for one day. You folks that have had to do it for 2 weeks prior have my respect. I know I would have cracked and ate.

Well I just wanted to wish all of you good luck that are having surgery tomorrow as well. And although I'm nervous I am so ready to keep moving forward.

Best wishes to you all! I'll be chatting with you soon to compare experiences.

Take care and happy weight loss!

Terri

I should be in bed...instead I'm sitting here worrying my big butt off. I'm excited and nervous and scared all at the same time. I'm like a giant chihuahua!

Sending you all big hugs and well wishes! I'll see you on the banded side!

Doing pretty well here. I'm starting to feel like my old self, save for the lack of appetite.

I still have 2 more weeks on full liquids, then I can introduce some mushies in preparation of the next week of "regular food". There are days when my hunger is next to nothing, so I don't mind the full liquids but then there are days where my hunger is out of control and I want to kill people and eat them.

I still can't sleep "normally" - it hurts to lay on my left side. That was the side I always slept on. I do sleep on my right side on occasion and it helps a little.

I go for my two week follow-up on Tuesday. I'm hoping he'll tell me that I can start mushies/regular food EARLIER.

How are the rest of ya'll doing? Hanging in there?

Hi. I'm doing pretty good. I feel a lot better now that I can have my Protein drinks and Vitamins. I have introduced myself to 1 type of mushy food, tuna. It tastes sooo good. I have to chew it so much it's like chewing gum though. My hunger is pretty controlled now that I can drink the shakes. I can't sleep on my left side either and only sore where port is if I do to much.

How are all the other 3/3 bandsters?

hello 3/3ers... am getting back to normal too, tho still not as flexible as i was pre-op. went back to work last week and was thanking god that i've got an office door. was a relief to shut myself in, unbutton my pants and lean back in my chair when my belly started feeling sore. and then there was, um, the gas. oy.

walking has been incredibly helpful for the soreness, the gas, and for getting me out in the world. have been to the gym a couple of times and managed 45 minute sessions on the treadmill. got clearance from my doctor to play tennis tomorrow. am sure i won't be at my best, but it'll be nice to hit a ball. the relative inactivity of my post-op recovery has me crawling out of skin and i can't wait to hit the court.

but the biggest event of the week: last night, i got to eat some real, honest to goodness salmon! yum. lightly seasoned with salt pepper a squirt of lemon and lime and stuck in the george foreman. damn it was good!

weight loss has slowed post op. have lost about 12 pounds in the last two weeks. have been obsessively weighing myself each morning. i know that's not the sanest thing to do, but i can't seem to help myself.

in other news, my first fill is in two weeks. am experiencing decent restriction now, but i can feel how that might loosen up between now and then; doc says i'm prolly still a little swollen. in the last couple of days i've actual felt hunger again, especially during the witching hour of 3-5pm. have been satisfying it with Protein shakes, but i'm really getting sick of liquid food.

sorry for the long post. hope everyone else is doing well.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
