WOW look at all this chit chat going on.... I'm loving all of it too....

Hey China - Glad I could help you out!!! How's the book?

I couldn't get on here this morning since pay roll is due today by 2:00. Finally finished and have a moment to look and chat!!

I don't have any problems with Viactiv chew Vitamins at all. I really love them...... I get to chew something chocolate that's super good for me........ I like the cherry chocolate daily Vitamins. Keeps me out of the candy dish at work also!! I did start off with Flintstone's vitamins... I just can't stomach the taste and kiddie flavor...... But these Viactiv I enjoy alot..............

Okay, okay, okay!!!!

It's finally happening, peeps! My lap band surgery is on Monday at 9:30 a.m. and it's SOLID. My blood cell count was still elevated, so BuffGen denied my medical clearance for a 2nd time, so I went to the doctor today and she cleared my clogged ears and found---a slight ear infection! That I never even FELT. She faxed the info to BuffGen, then I called Lisa and she told me Dr. Hoffman said he's fine with it since I'm on a zpack! YES.

Also...I got a loaner CPAP from CPAP XPress!!!! They were AMAZING and I highly recommend it...their respiratory chick was in West Seneca (I went to Transit) so they let the girl on duty there set it all for me with her boss on the phone (whom I had spoken to earlier). Now, at the end of next week or whenever, I'll be able to get my own machine since they took all my info for insurance. Seriously, I can't say enough good things!!!

Thanks y'all for the support you've given me, I've needed it since the process was so long!!! Just send me good karma on Monday seeing as though it still is surgery, albeit easy and quick. Anesthesia does crazy things to some people. :wink2: And since I've only ever had my tonsils out...and I was 17...you never ever know!

YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait to support all the peeps who are almost there as well...Linda, China...the way I've been supported by not only them but all of you!! Thanks!!!

Hey gang, wassup????

I chew Viactive up in two seconds even with the band so I am not sure what to tell you Linda. Actually, Dr. Hoffman never took me off pills, so still take my meds and Vitamins whole with no problem.

Best wishes to you Bloom--come back on as soon as you can and let us know how you are doing.

Hopefully the weather will be good for walking on Saturday at the Park. Val is on vacation but if it is not raining at least 3 of us will be there.

Yes the week before the surgery is worse then then week after in my opinion.

For anyone that had the surgery and is on CPAP, mine had to be titrated again due to weight loss and that is the reason I am tired--and here I thought I was not eating enough, LOL! So make sure that you have your machine adjusted as needed with the weight loss.

Take care everyone!!

Dee, my surgery is October 13th but should have been Sept 22 so I am ready. Some ideas I have gathered for surgery and post op are: for the hospital take some large ziploc bags to put the ice in for your incisions. Judy had hers leak all over and was all wet so this was her suggestion. One person complained about her roommates tv so earplugs might be a good idea. Lip balm as the hospital air is very dry. I am taking a small fan as I am always hot. I bought a small measuring cup that looks like a shot glass so I can drink the 2 ozs of Water every 15 minutes. I read this somewhere in a book but no one has said anything about that on this thread. Can anyone tell us, do you have do that once you are home? Take a pillow for the car ride home to hold against your incisions. For home I have gasx and liquid tylenol. Thanks for asking. Maybe I will get some more good advice.

Judy, Make sure you have all your foods at home before surg. don't want to be shopping for a few days.

viactive??? i've tried all kinds of chewables, and they were all disgusting, even flintstones so I will try these since everyone likes them so much. do you get them in a regular pharmacy or GNC?

Lorraine was the only one that I know of who drank out of small glasses every 15 minutes. I tried to drink every hour, but since I was here alone if I did not get up then that was it. You do have to drink a certain amount of liquid and Protein after you get home, doing it every 15 minutes insures that you get enough, but I did not have the patience to do it that way. I felt great anyway, so I just got up sand drank as often as I could.

The nurse will come in post op to discuss with you. At the hospital they had glasses there and ice water and ice chips for the whole day.

Well, ladies...here we go!

My dog's at my friend's house, I've been through the ringer with the Fleet Phospho-Soda (blech), drinking Water, and starving!

6:30 a.m. will be when I'll get to BuffGen! Wish me luck!!! I'm a bit nervous but I guess if anything happens...the hospital is the best place to be, right?

NOTHING will happen so do not worry, it all gets better after 8 am tomorrrow. Remember to get the patch for nausea before the surgery. I hate that phospho-soda.

I am so excited for you, I have thought about you often today.

Write us when you can.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
