Gained 2 pounds since surgery :(

Recommended Posts

Yes, try not to stress out about it! Remember you just had surgery - there are all kinds of wacky things going on with your body. I know it seems like a no brainer that if you are on liquids you should lose weight but that is rarely what happens. Try not to stress about the weight thing right now, concentrate on healing and doing what your doctor told you to do after surgery. That will be the best investment you can make in the future and then you will have success with weight loss. Everyone loses weight at different points of the journey and the only thing I can tell you for sure is that you WILL lose weight! Just maybe not one week after surgery! Hang in there!

Don't worry about it.

You will hear tales of weightloss on pre and post op...all before implementing the lapband system...which is adjustments.

Enjoy yourself! Embrace any weight changes, up or down. As soon that will be a thing of the past. Make sure you have your 6week appointment for a fill. Good luck!

(I didn't lose my first pound until 10 weeks after surgery)

Nurseoffaith..

I was also banded on 2/5 and am on clear's until Tues. Same thing...scale shows I gained 3 lbs. It's because of the gas, swelling, and all the fluids they pumped us up with during surgery. I'm just going to stay away from the scale for awhile and focus on getting thru the liquid phase of the diet. Hope your recovery is going well!!

I didn't weigh myself until yesterday. You have to let your body heal and get rid of the gas and swelling. I used to obsess about the scale and weigh everyday when I was on a diet and it just drove me nuts! I'm only planning on weighing myself once a week.

Just focus on your recovery and the pounds will start coming off when your body is ready.

I have been going up and down 2-3 lbs. since surgery. One day I'm lighter. The next day it's back up, then down, then up. I'm eating so little, of course, it would logical to be dropping pounds consistently.

BUT....this is a different thing. Surgery. Digestive system surgery. It must be in utter shock and just trying to survive, I imagine.

I had clear liquids with no Protein powders for 5 days post-op. Could have broth. I had diarrhea the last two days before full liquids. It helped to get onto full but my tummy still can be chancy. I think I've been doing too much. Tried to wash 4 loads of laundry yesterday morning and ended up back in bed mid-afternoon, pooped.

I also did not lose any weight for about 5 days post op. I was so bloated and gassy it was just not happening. Even now, almost 4 weeks post op (banded 2/15) I have only lost about 9 pounds. But I'm not gaining and I'm starting to feel like food has less of a control over my life, which is really nice!

Good luck

Thanks so much for all the support! Like most of you food is having alot less control over my life than it did pre surgery. I'm not really hungry but am working on healing my new stomach and like some of you said boy does it act weird and digestive surgery is a really big deal. This morning my stomach cramped and cramped but it was trapped gas. I walked some and this afternoon I've been walking and took a nap guess my body is still really gassey!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
