Scared I Will Not Qualify

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I am in the beginning processes of getting approved. I don't think I will have any problems with my insurance. I have/am in the process of lining up all the various appointments such as cardiologist, pysch eval, etc. etc. etc. I am scared to death that for some reason I am not going to be approved. I have PCOS, and severly insulin resistant and have high blood pressure. People who have all of these things have gotten the lap band ( i have read about them on this site!!) but for some reason I am so scared they are going to find something wrong...I have major heart problems or cancer...something. I know this sounds completely irrational....believe me. But I have a friend at work who had to get some pre-op tests for a minor surgery she was having and they ended up finding she had cancer....and she didn't even feel sick.

Have any of you ever heard of anyone getting turned down because they are not healthy enough?

Again, I know this sounds totally not rational and I hope you do not think I am crazy but I think my nerves are just getting the better or me.

Thanks for listening!

The only thing I have heard of is them finding something with the heart and having to work with the cardiologist to get clearance. Other than that, I haven't heard anything.

I haven't heard of anything either. But heart & lung problems would be the obvious areas to cause problems. Do you have a Bariatric Coordinator at your surgeon's office? Call and ask them. Thats what their for.

I'm excited and nervous too. We just gotta hang in there!

I had the same fears as you. I haven't been approved yet but I finally got done with all the testing, poking and proding at the end of January. I never get sick but I've been a smoker for 10 years. Very light....light enough that when I got my yearly bout of the upper respiratory infection 2 weeks ago I was able to quit completely. But anyway...I was so scared the doctors were going to find cancer or something horrible after running all of these tests since I haven't regularly gone to the doctor for checkups (never get sick except once a year). Turns out I'm healthier than I thought...just fat...LOL! I also was just diagnosed with PCOS a couple weeks ago...its mild (no cysts, no insulin resistance) but bad enough to keep my periods missing and keep me from ovulating. Just get done with these tests as quick as you can, I'm sure you'll be just fine! Then once you get banded, most of your health issues will disappear...that's what I can't wait for! Take care tinyrainbowflashingheart.gif

See...this is why I love this forum. Thank you to everyone who replied. It feels good to get support from people who know what I am going through. I know I was just being overly paranoid yesterday...I go through spurts where I think like that and then I get over it.

You guys rock!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
