I'm on day five of a two-week liquid diet. I get to have two cups of certain veggies as well each day. The first day was fine, second and third tough and I got the flu. Today seems to be easier, but I am over slim fast optima. I need to find another Liquid Protein subsitute that I like, because I cannot drink them anymore!! I still have 9 days left before surgery. Haven't cheated!

I was really good on my diet but then I had to go on a retreat for two days and really wasn't able to stick to my diet 100%. It was supposed to be just liquids but at least I didn't pig out on the retreat like I wanted to lol.

I just ate a lot of salads, had a piece of chicken, had a turkey sandwich without the bread, had 2 pretzel rods, and ate a lot of Tomato slices to fill in hunger.

At my pre-op appt. I mentioned it to my nutritionist and she was fine with it. She was like "as long as you went right back on the diet its okay, you lost weight, nothing to worry about". I was kinda shocked lol.

If I didn't go on the retreat then I would have never cheated. I am using nectar chocolate Truffle and vanilla Torte and they taste so good and are filling that I didn't have the want to cheat.

I just got banded yesterday so the cheating didn't harm anything but I was so worried about it beforehand. I would definitely recommend NOT cheating because it adds a lot of worrying that you don't want or need.

I never "cheated" - was scared to death I'd have a huge fatty liver & would not get surgery - instead I went the other way and did not eat all of the food (specifically, the starches) that we were allowed on the 1200 calorie pre-op diet. As a result I had lost 43 lbs. before my surgery date rolled around! That's 43 I didn't have to lose later, and my liver was "flat like a pancake" for surgery

Tonight was rough... I went to a Bunco's party and there was a huge assortment of delicious looking food. And everyone was drinking beer and wine.

Didn't touch a thing and drank my Water. :tongue2:

HolliJ I am proud of you. Sweetie it just ain't worth it!!

Riley I am with you. I was terrified of having a huge liver and not getting my surgery. I did NOT cheat, not even once... unless you want to count receiving Holy Communion. :tongue2: But I did get my surgery so I guess I did okay. :(

I am on day 1 1/2 of my 2 week liquid diet...I get banded 8/19/09. Last night I cut up 1/2 of a banana and put it in my vanilla MediFast 55 powdered shake...it was delicious.:w00t: My husband had a ....fit. No food, no food he started yelling. I told him that if the Dr. said I could have a salad...what difference would 1/2 of a banana make. :sneaky:

I have two social engagements before 8/19...pray for me so I can get through them without eating anything.

Like one previous poster said...it's only two weeks out of your life...just think about life when you feel good again! YOU CAN DO IT!

I didn't follow the pre-op diet. I do not recommend it but I ate and drank wine like it was the last supper up until the night before it was my surgery. Don't know why or how I did but I did. My mindset was that of like I'll be starting my diet starts tomorrow - so have whatever u can. I did. I will also say that it's about 5 1/2 months out and I have not experienced quick results and have totally struggled with getting this thing right. I've lost 45 pounds since Feb. 16 and it has been a struggle mostly bc I was expecting 'it' to fall off of me. Not so. I'm ok with it...working with the band now. It is completely a tool - I've named her 'Princess'.

I am saying good bye to all my favorite foods so not really heeding the diet. My BMI is 32.7. I am not too worried about my liver esp. since I don't drink alcohol. The 6 week liquid diet shouldn't be a problem since I am scared to death of getting things stuck, puking, and band slippage. I'm self pay.

Yeah, I wondered about that too! Six weeks seems almost cruel . Hope that was maybe a typo.

Not to be harsh, but you didn't put any effort into your pre-op diet so is it surprising to you that you have struggled in the first 5.5 months? There are many of these types of posts on this board, but I can't say I have much sympathy. Good luck, I hope you have better success in the future.

OK, so I am so upset with myself at this point! I totally relpased this weekend and had two short ribs and two snow crab clusters at a bar-b-que. I am disappointed because I really did well all week long. I just knew that the weekend was gonna be trouble. I locked myslef in the house on saturday as to avoid temptation but it was too nice on Sunday to be locked in again. I went to my parents for a mini bar-b-que and a swim in our inground pool. I don't know what came over me, I just had to have it. I was practically starving and it smelled so good. I have made a promise that there would be no food entering these lips on my last week of pre-op dieting. i am scheduled for surgery on Aug 25, 09 and am so excited. i just hope that I didn't do any major damage. I really want to be able to have this surgery and hope my liver has shrinked a little. I plan on making it throught this week. I am even thinking about taking a laxative to help clean me out so that I can start over. Has anyone else gone through a tough weekend?;)

Day 1 of my 2 week shake diet pre-op.

I don't care how hungry I get. I have waited too long for this, to blow it by being temporarily weak.

I am excited. I am ready.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
