Questions for the Dr....

Recommended Posts

I'm more than happy to answer questions and usually get online every 2-3 days. My practice is quite busy, so I'm sure you'll understand if I can't get you an immediate response.

The best way to get a question to me is to include my name in the Title (i.e. "Question about TT recovery for Dr. JLo") Tha way I can see it and others interested in that topic can refer to it and earn too!

i Am Currently 25 Lbs. Away From My Goal Of 150 Lbs. I Know That I Definitely Want A Breast Lift, But Am Trying To Figure Out Whether To Get A Tummy Tuck Or Just Lipo. I Carry Most Of My Fat Around My Mid-section. I Am Wondering Which Procedure Would Benefit Me The Most. Also, I Would Like To Have Ps Sometime Around The Beginning Of June. I Am Off All Summer Long. I Am Sure That By Than I Will Be At Goal. Should I Begin Talking To A Surgeon Now, Or Should I Wait Till I Am Closer To Goal? Also, I Am From The San Antonio Area. Any Awesome Surgeons That You May Know About From That Area? I Don't Even Know Where To Begin. Any Advice From You Would Be Highly Appreciated.

Hi. Congratulations on your accomplishments!

What you would like improved is largely a matter of personal choice. What bothers you most ?

If there are several areas, you may consider combined procedures.

I have found that liposuction rarely benefits weight loss patients as they have lots of skin and very little fat.

Look over my website photos at patients who may look like you, and you can get an idea of what is possible.

What if anything can be done at the time of surgery for skin that tends to form hyprotropic scares?

OR

Is this something that is dealt with post surgery with injections?

Honestly, I have no idea, but we hear of surgeons who are specialists dealing with hypertrophic scaring or true keloid patients.

Thanks in advance.

I have hypertrophic scaring from my breast reduction 3 years ago and one of my band incisions is still red and rope like, 2 years out. I am considering a Tummy Tuck.< /p>

During surgery using meticulous and gentle technique, not using surface stitches (we use glue), and closing the skin under minimum tension may help prevent HTS.

Afterwards, silicone gel sheeting, steroid injections, and even laser therapy may be helpful.

Thank you for responding. I appreciate knowing the details.

I used the silicone sheeting on my breasts, I think it worked on all but two areas at my side. But the laser therapy is news to me.

I will ask about that when I go for my consult in October. Because for people who scar like me, we have to weigh the benefits. Saggy skin - huge ugly scar......

It also makes me sad that I will probably have to give up on any idea of face work in the future, until someone invents a skin-shrinking-no-scar laser machine.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
