Shrinkin' Violets- Part 2 Read Here

Recommended Posts

What the hell did I do??? What a mess, I deleted the whole thing. It was a funny story though...sorry about that! Thank goodness we have a 20something year old violet to help us technically challenged, more seasoned violets!

Brother just called...we are gonna go to dinner and put an offer in on another piece of land!!! WooHOO...call me Ivanka Trump! (Really, you should see these shitholes we are buying). It sold for 25k in 2006, but fell into foreclosure, not the bank is unloading this for 9k!

I would LOVELOVELOVE IT if TracyK or Janie called me and told me who went home...no, I can't wait until I get home! PAALLEEASSE! Whoever can, thanks!

I went to my Doctor'sappointment today and all went really well. I weighed in 10.5 pounds lighter. That's 10.5 in 6 weeks. WooHoo. So we sat and talked a little and I told him that I felt good and comfortable. That I really didn't think that I needed a fill. I told him that in all this time I have never thrown up. A few times I have had the slimes from not chewing my food well enough. So since I was comfortable I was afraid that a little fill might put me in the group of sufferers. He agreed with me and we decided to give it another 4 weeks and see how my weight loss is than. I was sad that I drove all that way for no fill but I feel comfortable with my decision. I told him that with a pool being put in soon I really needed to be tightened down good. I need to fit in that bathing suit. We both laughed about it.

Everyone have a great evening and can someone remind me in the morning that it's CTCD???? Thanks.

OMG, I thought the same thing! I did spew my coffee when I read this (Kat has the strangest cast of characters in her world) and had to read it back to my daughter. She and I laughed about it all day! We were saying (in our best gay-effeminate voice and flapping our hands), "Oh my gawd!! He is SO dead! I'll do the makeup but enbalming just creeps me OUT!!"

Suzie, that is so awesome!!! You are losing at such a great, steady pace!! That's the ticket, girl! I take it you don't own a scale and just weigh at the doctors. How much have you lost altogether?? You should be so proud of yourself....REALLY!!!!

Ok! Well today is plastic surgery consultation day!! DH and I are both going in to talk about an eyelid job (blepheroplasty) which is covered by my insurance. The criteria we meet is that our eyelids are so heavy that they rest on the eyelashes. I can't wait to have this done!! I used to have such big bright eyes and they're horrible now! I also can't wait to see what else I might have done while I'm under the knife. Brow lift? Neck Lipo? Fat implants in my cheeks?? I wouldn't be surprised if he recommended a facelift but I don't think I'm ready for that. We'll see. Like Laura said, growing old gracefully is over-rated! I even, for a short while yesterday, allowed myself to fantasize about a Tummy Tuck. Even when I was in college and weighed 130 I had a tummy!! So you can imagine, after 2 kids, that it is my biggest trouble spot. I could make that all magically go away...but I don't know if I care about it that much (meaning $5,000 worth or whatever it costs).

I'm working on an all-silver necklace that's about 1/3 of the way done so I'll be pounding metal this afternoon. (Yea!) Oh darn, I need to go to the grocery store, too. I hate going to the store. Grrrr. These kids go thru some food, letmetellya.

TTYL!!

Good morning ladies-

Terri-wooohooo have fun at the PS. I am envious!

Pam-I am SO sorry! I did not get back on the computer last night to see you ask who got voted off. I would have called you n a heartbeat. SORRY!!!

TGIT-I am off tomorrow so this will work! The boss will be away most of the day and I just bought a new James Patterson book to read :Dancing_shocked: so it should make today pass fairly quickly.

I hope Jenn is doing OK. Jenn, I second (or third) what Terri, Laura and the others said. I know you would like to stay where you are but you need to think about relocating somewhere that the job market is better! Prayers & hugs to you girlfriend!

Lunasa-I wish I could lose 3 pounds. I think my days of -3 in a week are GONE! Good job girl!

Judy-are you getting your new car soon?

Laura-just reading your story about the lab work and the run around you are getting frustratd ME! I loathe poor service of any kind!

Hi Haydee, Jane, Suzie, Denise, and all my other sisters!

Have a great day everyone

Hey Everyone!

This is Holy Thursday!!! And it is a great day cause @ 3pm...I start a 10 day vacation!!!! Helltothefreakinyeah!

My brother flaked out on me last night cause he was w/ clients. He knew I was a bit pissed sooooo he called me late and said, "You want Johnny on Easter?" Uuuummm, YEAH! So me and the little man are gonna hang out on Sunday, go to the cemetary to see my mom, then to the Living Desert (a wild animal zoo here), then...I heard Horton Hears a Who is a hoot (hahahahaha). Then shopping at Wally World Monday morning for some clothes and something else fun! Yeah!!! I am soooo glad. Hopefully Susanne will go to the desert thing w/ us. She loves animals and has never been! Sooo, my brother has redeemed himself...for now. We still need to meet about this land though.

OK...quick game of scrabble. I got my REAL TOM now and have cramps and sore boobs and the munchies. OH well...

I think I hear the Easter Bunny!

Good Morning, Violets..

Ahhhhhhhhh Spring has sprung and when I look outside I see........... SNOW!! It's snowing right now as I type... big, fat, fluffy white flakes. Kinda like me pre-banding. At least the sun is shining. I have a nail appointment today and then will do my hospital shift.

Tracyk...we're going back and forth on the car right now. Trying to decide what will be more financially practical. Don't know how it will play out, but it's not like we have to get it done today. We'll take our time and try to make the right decision. I LOVE the Prius, but the buick is a great car too. Too many decisions.. too little brain power!

I tried to eat a Jimmy Dean Lite Breakfast sandwich today and even with taking the top bun off, it didn't work. I gave up after 3 little bites. We bought 3 different kinds and they're all going to DD. Back to oatmeal or yogurt for breakfast.

Jenn...hang in there girl. We all are pulling for you. I know it's got to be such a disappointment. Wish we could help more than the prayers and purple power we offer. If we lived closer, I know we would.

Suzie.... congrats on the GREAT weight loss!!! You are really on a roll, woman!!:thumbup:

Pamela... only a few hours to Spring Break. I remember the feeling well!! I just emailed my school to let them know I'll be there to help with Kindergarten Round Up. It's a no brainer for me and I get to see my former students and my colleagues all of whom I've not seen since before banding. That will just be a FUN time!!

We have Maundy Thursday services tonight, a three hour service with 5 other churches tomorrow and then a veiling of the cross service in the evening. Saturday is our relaxing day and then two services on Sunday. We're going to DD's for Easter dinner. it will be ham and all the fixings and hopefully I won't spend my time in the bathroom!

Terry... good luck on your PS consult. Personally I think duct tape or tootpicks would have the same effect, but it's your choice. :Dancing_shocked::tt2::Dancing_tongue:

Well, better go get my hair curled and makeup on for the day. Everyone have a good one. Make wise choices, drink that Water and CTC!!! (that one is aimed right at ME!)

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

      2. Selina333

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
