Recommended Posts

I know I can blame no one but myself for my poor food choices. my downfall is chocolate....and now it is Easter time..and we just passed Valentine's Day. I usually do not have any at all in the house, but I have those weaknesses and BAM I go buy it. Also lots of stress at work, lay-offs going on... And I am a stress eater, so that is a big issues for me.

I am going to be extremely observant of what goes into my mouth.. and hope it kicks my head into gear..weekends are also hard to get in all my water..

Chocolate is a weakness for me, too, but you just have to get it out of your system, resist the urge to buy it, and you will stop craving it... I promise! But you have to

JUST SAY NO!!!

groups..

ever since the upgrade last weekend I have not been getting email notification of posts either, and I checked and I am subscribed to all my usual

Check under CPUser and make sure the option to get email notifications is still checked. Then go to your list of subscribed threads and go to the last page of each thread. I find that if I don't go to my subscribed threads on a regular basis, email notifications stop. But after I go back and visit each of my threads, they will start up again.

My e-mails are still coming - but to my "Junk" box now.

(I'll fix it)

Exactly one week until my pre-op liquid diet starts!

Instead of counting the days - I'm ENJOYING the days.

Like a vacation - it starts when you lock the door of the house and back out of the driveway -

Enjoy the ride!

With impending separation, surgery and the decision to teach/lecture needlework - I'm on emotional overload.

So - it's ME ME ME for several weeks - health, attitude, esteem, discipline.

I spent a long weekend with a long-lost childhood friend and it was as if we just returned to school on a Monday morning.

I had a "last hurrah" bread-baking spree (left all the loaves in her freezer) while gabbing for 2 1/2 days.

It helped put a refreshing perspective on the "Me" I was, the me that is buried and the me that should be regained.

Very - very appropriate for this time of life and year.

Sounds like in the middle of the emotional chaos,

you have it all together!

You're an overcomer! You can do this!!

Phyl, I should know this being a moderator and all. I went to user CP to make sure my subscriptions to emails were turned on. I couldn't find anywhere to check that. Where is it at?

Alex emailed me to my email address that is listed here, and even he can't figure out why I am not getting email notifications.

Did you check you junk mail?? Mine started going to my junk mail once and it took me a while to figure out what happened. Once I checked "not junk", it started coming back to my inbox.

User cp.... then Settings and Options, then options.

Have you had any plastic surgery... can't remember?

Having a BIG "debate" with DH because I want to get my legs done... and I want to do it in Mexico, and I want to do it before I get to goal.

Atta Girl Elayne,

Sounds like you had some well overdue fun with your school pal. "G'donya!" Great to hear. Keep it up.

Best wishes, Helene.

Hi Everyone,

Would you believe I'm down to 94 kilos = 163lbs as of this morning. I was so afraid of going up in weight after the band was removed but I guess I'm doing something right. My system has begun moving properly again so I guess that will make a difference. I still have small meals as before and drink a lot of Water (mineral water, can't stand tap water).

I do wish the surgeon had drawn the Fluid (blood) from the bulge last week. He said the body will absorb it in time but I've had it drained after previous surgeries and would prefer it than the bulge. Still very tender and tire easily but getting there.

Best wishes to all.

It's great to be hearing from you , Helene. Keep healing!! You must be feeling so much better about your situation now. It will all come together, honey, just keep plugging along. I know that bulge bugs you, but with all the other things that had to be corrected, your surgeon is probably right to just let this situation correct itself - less trauma to you. Good goal...

take care.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
