problem with TIGHTNESS during that time of the month!

Recommended Posts

I have been banded about 2 1/2 years, I have had great success! I would do it all over again if I had to. I have only had minimal problems since the surgery. My issue now is that progressively i have had problems with it being very tight during that time of the month! It has always been a little tighter during this time even since the beginning but lately probably I would say the last 6 months it has been "very tight" during this time to the point I have had unfills because it gets so bad! I am currently unfilled completely because last month it completely closed on me where I couldn't even swallow my own saliva! and at that point I only had .8cc in it anyway!! So my questions to anyone is if this has happened to you or is this just my dumb body and will I be like this forever now! Is there some suggestions on a fix, at this point I would try anything. I am unfilled and scared of gaining weight back again! So any info would be greatly appreciated.

Does your doctor have any advice? I have this problem (not to your level of difficulty) and have been really trying to watch my sodium intake. I also cut out splenda and other artificial sweetners a week or so before, low sodium, lots of exercise, Water, and green tea at least one time a day. I just sort of put together this plan and it has worked really well for me. I'm still tighter than usual, but not to where I can't eat.

Well when I went in about 3 weeks ago with the problem of being completely closed off I think it was a combination of throwing up with the tightness causing swelling that closed it but he suggested that I take lasics about a week before i start to keep the Fluid off of me but I have noticed this problem getting increasingly worse over time and it may be just my body getting older and all but I wondered if anyone else had this problem, cause its nice to know this is some what normal ya know!!

While I was being re-regulated on my B/C after not taking it for a month for surgery.. I was tighter during TOM. Now that I'm regulated again, I take my pills back to back so I don't have a period.. and I've not had the tightening during TOM like I did. I do still have the TOM cravings tho :)

I have severe migrain headaches so I am unable to take any kind of birth control!! So that sucks because sounds like that would be a cure!! thanks for the info I have an appointment on Jan 7th to get a fill but I am very concerned that this will happen again!! I have started the lasics though and they seem to help but I am empty so who knows!!

i am very scared to gain weight back again though!

I just wanted to let you know that the problems I was having were due to my band being slipped! It has been slipped due to the problems I have been having for prob a year but just getting worse! I did have my band replaced about 12 days ago and am feeling pretty good!

flygirl, I hadn't seen your original post (sorry), but I was going to mention that you should have your doctor check the position. It was very nice of you to come back and report on this. I think it's very normal to get tight during TOM, but not increasingly so like you described.

Glad you got it all fixed!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
