Roux Limb Syndrome

Recommended Posts

Has anyone had issues with Roux Limb Syndrome? I've been having awful cramping in my upper abdominal area (especially after eating certain foods). They've done CT, upper endoscopy, and ultrasound. They have found any causes of the pain. The GI doctor mentioned Roux Limb as a possibility. I can't find much that lays it out in simple terms. I don't believe this is dumping.

yea - doesn't sound like dumping. I'd never heard of roux limb syndrome, so I just googled it. It might be that - it's hard to say. I hope they can figure it out soon!! Cramping is awful!

One of the google sources said there have been only 4 documented cases of this syndrome. In another reference, doctors did scans and tests and examinations and found nothing, but when someone who knew what they were looking for, problems were discovered. This of course indicates that if your average doctors looked at it they probably wouldn't know if they were seeing it. Get a top of the line Gastroenterologist that is used to looking at rare things to take a look.

Good luck,

Tek

I'll call the surgeon's office after Christmas weekend to see if they can shed some light. My GI doctor is out as well. Yesterday was so bad and lasted way longer than it normally does.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
