Numbness in thighs

Recommended Posts

Hello,
I was sleeved on 11/6. Everything has been great, but my outter thighs have been feeling like pins and needles. Today they started burning. It’s mainly when I lay down or sit. I had a very mild case of this before surgery, but never this bad. They are on fire right now.  It’s from my knees to my waist and strictly on the outside, both legs. Anyone have a similar experience? Sorry, I just started using

this app and can’t find a search result for this.
Thanks

I would contact your team. See what they want you to do. Depending on where you got your surgery done you may have access to an advice number that's available 24/7. It could be nothing but it could be something. And we are not doctors. This would be when to contact them.

What did the doctors say it was last time?

I'd put my money on a back issue. Loss of weight put different stresses on the back, especially damaged areas. But, sadly, you need to see a doctor or two to get a diagnosis and a fix or other mitigation of the issue.

Good luck,

Tek

Yep, I sent them a message but won’t hear back until tomorrow. I have since found multiple posts about it on here and some helpful Google searches. Glad I messaged the Dr though just to be on the safe side.

Several years ago, I experienced something similar but it was mainly during my daily walks. At first Meralgia Paresthetica was suspected but it turned out to being related to my hypothyroidism with a TSH level at 192. The symptoms you describe does check the "boxes" of Meralgia Paresthetica but you should consult with your doctor ASAP.

So I for sure had this issue, but on just one side - my right side. I had always had some version of numbness/hyper sensitivity on the outer side of my right thigh. I had lost a bunch of weight naturally and it did improve. Then with gaining the weight back I felt it far more when I would stand still for too long. I've always equated it to a pinched nerve.

After surgery, I had felt that sensation on 1000 often feeling like electricity running through from hip to knee and would not allow me to sleep well for some time like lightning bolts. I did bring it up to my surgeon and he could only offer that it could very well be due to the length of time spent on your back during surgery could have impinged a nerve. His advice was to just give it a little bit of time, with weight loss it should ease up. If it persisted or got worse to consult my PCP.

I gave it time and it started to lessen. I had to find some other ways to lay and stretch for a bit, but the weight loss has definitely taken the load off wherever this nerve is.

Hope it improves for you.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
