Poor loss after surgery!

Recommended Posts

Hi there, I’m 3 weeks post op today and 52 years old . I did not do a great LRD and probably didn’t lose anything . The day after surgery I was 14 st 9 and today I am 14 stone 5 lb!!!

I have been working hard to get my Protein in averaging 80g per day and now I’ve managed to increase calories up to 700-800 per day as my fatigue was so bad.

has anyone else had such a poor initial loss?

thank you

I had my surgery in May . By July 1st I lost 13 pounds and then stopped. It's now Nov and I still haven't lost an ounce more. My dietician said she still considers me a success because my labs were perfect and I did drop 2 sizes ! I'm eating very low carb and high Protein ,so I guess instead of getting lighter - I'm getting tighter ...LOL

Most people hit a stall 2 to 3 weeks after surgery. There is also retention after surgery because of the IV. Just keep working your program and the weight will come off. Also note you started at a low weight to begin with, so it may be slower but do speak to your team if you are concern.

I like this post I saw on Pinterest once, if you keep working at it you will see the results, good luck!

There are some who are slow losers. Nothing wrong with it. It’s just one of those things. Still extremely frustrating though. At the same time, I think it’s possibly too soon to judge. You are losing & that is always a win. Doesn’t matter if it takes a little longer than you may have hoped to lose your weight. As many say, it’s not a sprint but a (lifelong) marathon.

What has your surgeon said or your dietician?

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
