I finally got my call for surgery today!! I am getting Roux-en-y on October 27th!! I am so excited this has been a long hard path for me, full of stress and anxiety and honestly, I had all but resigned to not getting surgery until next year, with all of the obstacles I have had in spite of my efforts. I am so excited to join everyone getting surgery this October!!!

Hi Arendiva,

My VSG surgery date is also scheduled for October 20th. I just stumbled across this page and am loving the posts and information so far. Looking forward to sharing in success and challenges along the way. Excited and nervous at the same time. The pre-op diet is a struggle. I find myself a bit lethargic with low energy, partly because I had to go off regular coffee - Decaf is NOT the same! I'm not as hungry as I thought I would be, but don't particularly enjoy vegetables, so I'd appreciate any tips you all have for making them taste better?? Trying to seek out new recipes and meal prep so I have healthy options on hand.

Scheduled for 10/17. I am on day 3 of preop and I feel better today than I did the last 2 days. It’s a struggle - I keep thinking of the food I want to eat. popcorn. pumpkin cake. Rice!! Ughhh

My one week pre-op diet starts Monday, and I'm starting to get scared. Not of the actual surgery, really. I mean, I can talk about how great the benefits of bariatric surgery will be and how mindful of my eating I will become, and I'm really thankful that I've come this far and that I am able to do it... but the reality is coming, where I'll be in it, and not just talking about it.

It seems like maybe the attachment to my old ways of eating is rearing up and trying to pull me back. Like hey, you do realize that you can't stop this train a month in, right? Can't say, oh this diet is too hard, forget it, I'm gonna go eat a pizza now. I mean, that's part of why I want this surgery, because of that restriction.

But it's scary, because ending diets is all I've ever known. Not to mention the dumping and hypoglycemia that seems will follow for the rest of my life. This is new territory here, and it's serious. I know I'm going to go through with it and that it'll be great, at some point. But now that it's finally here, I'm just freaking out a little 🙃

Ooh yours is just a day after mine!

I'm scheduled on the 16th for gastric bypass for which I have to be at the hospital at 5:30 am 😴 FINALLY. I first met with my surgeon in November 2021, and after a lot of ups and downs, I have finally made it! I started Ozempic in March this year and have lost 53 lbs, and a total of 68 lbs from my high weight of 276. Today is my last dose, as my surgery is in just over 2 weeks. Feels so weird to say that.

Today I had my endoscopy and the doctor told me that I'm cleared. Plus, I found out the other day that my insurance gave their approval, so I'm all set to go!

As far as pre-op diet, starting one month before surgery, I've been limited to 45g carbs/day. One week before surgery, I have to do a full liquid diet with a max of 35 carbs/day.

Good luck everyone!!!

Same here (Oct 16)!! Also bypass. Midway through the pre-op diet, kinda an emotional rollercoaster ride the first few days but doing well now. Best wishes to you (and all) on a successful start to a new life!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
