I’m 59. I had surgery last September on the 26. I’ve lost 49 lbs. when I weighed last on January 8th of this year. I know I’ve lost more because I’m fitting into a medium and large. It’s very hard to not graze. Try ordering from BariatricPal. Everything there is healthy you can’t miss. That’s what I’m do ping and I’m loosing weight by the week. Focus on your Protein Shakes, Water and do your Snacks. If you want sweets you can have that too. Look whatever you want to eat look for it in there. I felt like eating pancakes the other day. I ordered BariatricPal pancakes with the zero sugar. You don’t have to make a large order . Whatever you feel like eating just order it. I eat everything and since I started to get ready for my surgery last September I’ve lost 94 lbs. Try it you won’t be sorry.

I love Bariatric Pal but i do disagree that everything on there is healthy. You still have to read the labels. I have wanted to order some of their products until i looked at the label, then decided not to. They are great for some items, but then again since having the surgery i am very picky about what i eat based on nutrition labels.

I am 54 and had the sleeve done on 4/12/2023. I am 2.5 months post op and have lost 43lbs. I was concerned with age as far as losing weight as fast as some of the people who are younger, but i seem to be right on track. I was also concerned that menopause might cause slow weight loss. I like many people on here will say I wish i had done the surgery sooner!!!! Best decision ever to have the surgery! I do not regret it one bit.

Hey all. I turn 60 in September and surgery date was 5/23/2022. I was my lowest June 2023 at 123.4. I am currently running about 142. I am mad that I gained back what I have. I don’t want it to keep climbing. I am back to using my app and trying my best to keep track of food Water and back to race walking jogging every other day and walking the dogs in the park every other day. I hope to regulate the water and Vitamins. The vitamins still cause Constipation and that for me is serious. I hate taking dulcolax or pills for this. Anyone else having issues gain back? Or the Vitamin issue?

Hello everyone,

I am 59 and will be 60 at the end of March. I am 1 week and 4 days post-op. I feel great. The most pain I had was a Migraine for about four days after surgery. There were a few contributing factors. Kicking caffeine was one of them. I also get a headache anytime I have a fever. My normal temp is 97 degrees, and a low-grade fever of 99-100 affects me in getting a headache. My nurse's daughter explained that having a low-grade fever like that meant I was healing. But otherwise, I am doing just fine.🙂 I was worried I was too old for the surgery. I kicked myself for not doing this sooner. It was a lot easier than I expected. But I will return to work on Monday, and we will see how that goes.

Yep, also in this age group!

I am getting sleeved on Jan 16! 🥳

It's been a long time coming with a few false starts, but great to get all the little duckies in a row! 😁

Just got to make it through Christmas, which is pretty boozy and lots of food here in Australia!! 🤪

Congratulations to everyone for what you've achieved and what we know you can achieve! I'm 61 and had my surgery August 20, 2024. The weight has been coming off and I've been exercising regularly (Orange Theory Fitness), taking walks, walking the dog, line dancing.

The pre-and-post surgery fast can be a challenge but I think it prepares you for next stages. I'm still eating about 2oz/meal. I'm definitely in an exploratory stage as far as playing around with foods and understanding when is too much.

I returned to a habit of snacking before bed by eating a small piece of cheese or an ounce of nuts... that was definitely the wrong idea. I paid for that by feeling very uncomfortable. I kicked that habit to the curb quickly. So I'm working on eating dinner earlier and making applesauce the snack. I'm open to ideas.

We've got this!

I’m 52, sleeved on 12/07. I have a plan but all of this is still quite foreign. I’m at my 3 wk stall or something close but taking it one day at a time.

You have this down pat. One day at a time is the best wasy forward. Any questions, just ask away and we will do our best to help you.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
