Dating in your 60s

Recommended Posts

Hi singles, I'm still on my weight loss journey. I would like to lose another 15 pounds. I wasn't sure when I started this journey what the end weight would be. Just lnew I had to get healthy, get off my b/p meds, stay away from diabtetes, etc. I feel more confident after losing 55 pounds, but I still can't imagine going on a dating site and putting myself out there. I've been on dating sites before, here and there, theres positive things that happen, weird things (scammers) and it takes a lot of energy. Of course, like most people I would rather meet someone "organically." Is there anyone out there that has any advice or words of wisdom that is experiencing dating in the mid 60s?

If you are worried about romance scammers on sites, maybe consider going to a matchmaker, they help people build confidence, and they can help with other concerns like if you are unsure how to approach an interest or if you are worried about keeping a conversation going on a date, they also help you meet people and figure out what you really want in a relationship.

Another way to meet people would be if you have any hobbies or something you would like to learn about, then take a class, or join a community center. Where I live our community college has a program for people ages 55+ they get together and go on trips, study, and practice things like winemaking, painting, gardening, geology, etc. That would be a great way to meet someone in my opinion. Honestly, I wish they had something like that for my age group.

Hi, thanks for the advice. And of course I have thought of that and belong to many different groups. The problem is I’m physically limited as to what I can do. I used to hike a lot, very good wsy yo meet men, can’t do that anymore. Some groups I can still do, like bookclub is all female. I used to sail a lot, but can’t do that right now until I get my shoulder fixed

I do get to the dog park everyday! Even gentle yoga I belong to is all female. I used to live at the gym, but again I’m so limited on what I can do, mentally I’m better off exercising at home and walking my dog.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
