I've been experiencing bright red blood in my stool and after I passed gas. I'm 18 days post op and have lots of watery diarrhea still, so probably resulting from the irritation in the rectum. I'm going to give my doc a call on Monday (unless it worsens before then) but wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this.

Thanks all...

bright red is less worrisome than dark red. It usually indicates a hemorrhoid or an anal fissure...both of which are more of a nuisance than anything dangerous. They're often caused by straining to defecate. But I'd let your clinic or PCP know regardless, just in case. If nothing else, for peace of mind.

P.S. I don't remember if I had this after surgery, but I've had it in the past. It was from hemorrhoids.

I didn't have this after surgery, but I did have it when I would have to strain to poop. Usually when I would be constipated. For me, it was a tear from straining too hard too often. My doc also said as long as it's bright red, it's not a major concern. If it's dark red or even black, that's a serious problem.

I also only experienced this after being constipated with a hemorrhoid. When it was painful I would use "TUCKS" brand wipes. Hope you feel better soon!

My poop is dark brown and I am wondering if I should be worried. No blood. This is the 3rd poop I have had since surgery on 10.11.22.

I am still on liquids. I am mostly doing chocolate Protein Shakes, is this normal?

Scared but excited.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
