Almost end of week 2, have been feeling great, no pain barely any discomfort and can drink my Water at a decent pace. When I hit my water goal, barely hungry. Tomorrow I start my pureed/mushy stage, excited to try the recepies I have seen online for this stage.

Hello everyone, had my 1st meal outside of liquid, not sure why I chose chili aside from my team saying we could have it. I took my sweet time eating it (about 40 minutes), chewing one bean 50 times and checking my body for signals, I added 2 oz of broth to thin it out and dilute the spices. I was able to have 1oz when I got a hiccup and since that is one of the full signals, I stopped immediately. I'm monitoring myself like crazy to check for anything out of sorts, but I will skip it for a few meals to try things maybe with a little less spice.

Hope everyone is having a great start of their weeks!

Hello, been trying different foods so far everything has sit well. I had the chili yesterday but after analyzing it bc of the small amount I ate, it was only 2g of Protein so im skipping that for now

I am putting myself back on full liquids for a few days. I was put on soft foods (not pureed) on Nov. 28th, but the last few days my stomach seems to be more upset. I figure maybe I need to restart, slow down, and watch my intake a bit better.

It could also just be Constipation because I misplaced my dulcolax.

But better safe than sorry.

I met a coworker from another department who has the sleeve on Halloween this year. So that was pretty cool. I am thankful for the amount of support I get at work. My immediate coworkers watch my intake more closely than I do 😅.

infection round two

surgery 11/3

went to er 11/11 for infection that burst

thought that it healed up- skin was skin colored, no heat, no hard knot under skin, white scar formed, area was concave..

until sunday….. became red, tender etc… got antibiotics on monday and took two doses; woke up this morning and saw my incision was breaking open subq with thin skin holding it back from bursting … went to my surgeons office and he was i. surgery but i tried to wait on him but it burst while waiting… (i luckily brought a tea towel and most of the infection was caught by it… soaked through and now in the trash). his nurse spent 30 mins cleaning and getting some of the yuck out then sent me to er where i got another ct with contrast, two rounds of antibiotics, potassium and fluids…

sent home again and follow up later this week…. oh the joys that come with surgery

Don't let the infections get you down. You have already come amazingly far in this and eventually the infection will give up.

Oh no! Not again. Praying! You have really had a tough time. Keep your chin up though.. you have already made so much progress and you'll be back to normal before you know it.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
