Surgeries The Week Of December 17

Recommended Posts

Hey there! I hope those of you who already had your surgery are doing well. Mine is tomorrow (Dec. 19) I am getting anxious and a bit scared, but I am soooooo ready to start my journey to a heathier, happier me !:)

I had to be on a liquid diet 10 days pre-op and I have to agree with Haeather A....I am having trouble drinking my required amount....I'd rather just not eat. The problem w/me is I think not getting enought calories has slowed my weight loss and I am "afraid" of getting grief about that in the morning. LIke they may think I haven't been on the diet....I am probably just freaking out and over-analyzing. Bad Habit of mine:rolleyes

Talk with you on the other side (of banding that is:clap2:)

Hello all,

I am having the band placed on Thursday December 20, 2007. I have been wanting this forever self pay of coarse. Now that I am two days away I am scared as hell. I am going to Mexico because that's where I can afford to have the surgery done. I have to be on a ten day liquid diet (day 8:faint:). I didnt think I would make it this far. I wanted to break on the first day but I also don't want anything to go wrong with the surgery. I figure the Dr. said 10 days for a reason. I am so damn hungry but am getting use to not being able to eat:mad:. I still feed my husband and son (lol) I cook them meals I wish I could eat then retire to my room while they graze. I think that I am more scared of flying and the IV :help: than the surgery itself. I also can't wait to eat real food, even if it is a small amount. I am sick to death of chicken broth and apple juice. It sucks! I told the nurse if I was able to only drink liquids for 10 days I would'nt be paying them so much money to band me up. Well anyway this is my first post but surely not my last. I am glad someone created this page a lot of my questions have been answered. Nice to meet you all. Pray for me. 2 days to go. :)

I'll be banded on the 20th (Thursday morning)! I'm so excited and a little nervous, but in a positive way. This pre-op (Protein liquid+soups) diet has been a killer for me! I've been hungry constantly and I don't think I was getting enough calories because I've been bitchy, weak, tired, plus I've lost more weight in 12 days on Atkins compared to this crap. Oh well. I'm hoping the healing process will give me a break from the constant hunger.

I'm hoping I don't have too tough of a time during bandster hell. Here's a non-carbonated champagne toast to us!!

Hello all,

I will be banded on the 20th at 1:00pm. Nervous and wondering if I'm doing the right thing. However I'm going through with it. I was super sick the first eight days of the liquid drinks and as of yesterday I'm not sick to my stomach and my head is not hurting. I'm hungry but can tolerate my stomach being hungry. I have been reading the post here for six months. I will be paying for this on my own. Took out a loan and hope this is going to be a life changing in a positive way for me. I have a seven year old daughter that I want to do things with and at this weight I don't. I will keep all of you in my prayers and will post once I'm able too. God Bless.

Best of luck, and for those of you on Medifast preop diets.. *HUG* I tried that once to lose weight... that stuff is HORRID. I did lose about 25 lbs in a month but I couldn't stand it anymore kicked it to the curb, gained my 25 lbs back and 20 lbs of revenge.

Good luck! Best wishes for speedy recoveries!

Well tomorrow is the big day:whoo:. My husband is making me sick, Im pretty sure its the fact that I have'nt eaten in 9 days:faint:. Trying not to take this out on him but I am in need of huge moral support right now and he's a die hard ARMY man that does'nt cry or feel pain (whatever). I left the house for work this morning feeling like I wanted a divorce. I love him I'm sure it's just my empty stomache talking, and the fact that his ass can eat regular food. I am so nervous. I am hoping like hell that I do not experience all of the gas pains I have read about on here. How are the recent bandsters doing?

My gas pains lasted four days and that was the hardest part so far. Try to move as much as you can should help, but I know all too well that can be hard to do when you ache.

You can do it!

Banded 11/27/07

First fill 12/20/07 Tomorrow! and I know I need it.

Highest/Surgery/Current/Goal

230 212 202 Whatever I can acheive and Maintain

fingers crossed it's about 140

5'0" Goal should be 120 or less, but I know that will never happen. I am realist!

I was banded on the 17th. I'm glad there was some medication available. It was very uncomfortable for the first 24 hours but it is sure getting much better. No appetite, though. Having sugar-free Jello and trying to get all of the Water down. Next Monday will be liquid week (more than just clear liquid). Hoping that I made the right decision to band. What has been the hardest part for all of you?

That is sure the way to go. You can both support each other. Next year at this time people will not know either of you. Best of luck and keep us posted.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
