Where Is The Connecticut Band Fam

Recommended Posts

Sounds like everyone is doing well and getting ready for Thanksgiving. Eboney Rose hope that you are on the mind and doing well. I am still working out details for coming to New Haven, I hope to have that part done this week at work. Just so many details and having to make sure it is all right. Just like getting the band. I should be up in the area the first week of Dec. and will be looking for a place. Thanks to everyone that has given me information on who to call etc. Hope we can all meet up at sometime in the near future. Thanks again for all the help.

Chris

I have just attended my first meeting. I'm already scheduled to meet with the dietician, therapist and doctor. I'm very nervous about the surgery and post op pain. It would be great to here from fellow CT pre/post banders. I will be having my surgery at St. Vincents in Bridgeport.

C'mon, CT let's not live up to our cruel and cold reputation and support on another. :help:

Well Spring is finally here. I hope it starts to warm up and stay that way. Hope everyone is doing well and getting ready to be outside more than in. Iam ready to go biking along the beach. One thing I have notice this year is that my skin has been a lot dryer or more itchey since I have lost the weight. I was wondering if anyone else has noticed it as well. I do feel I am drinking enough fluids etc.

CONGRATS Sharona,

You had a fantastic year! May I be so lucky. I am doing well for the most part. I just developed some strange hypoglycemic tendencies and wonder if it is lap band related. I hear that my blood pressure meds may need to be adjusted since I have lost the weight.

I'm almost a year out from my surgery (April 22) and I keep getting these episodes where I suddenly get a wave of nausea, lightheaded, kinda hot, and almost dizzy near faint. I have never been diabetic before even at my highest weight and it does not run in my family. I know it isn't my blood pressure because I did check it and it was fine. Once I eat something, then I feel okay just weak for awhile. Has anyone in my CT family experienced this or even heard of it?

Sharona take care and keep up the great work...you are my inspiration!

Hey there ctcutie,

I also had this happen to me about the 6 month time frame. I went and had some testing and sure enough I was anemic and my blood sugar was really out of wack. I am now doing great just make sure I eat at regular intervals. I hope you have such an easy solution. I would suggest getting a work up done from your doc. That way you can rule out anything serious. Good luck!

You definetly aren't alone :) jeez, it's tough to come up with helpful hints, I just really try to follow the band rules. I eat slowly, chew chew chew, eat Protein first , veg second. If I need a snack I always stick to a 100 calorie candy, I never eat more than a cup of food at a sitting. I stop eating as soon as I feel satisfied. I don't eat any Pasta or rice (my doc says these can swell in your pouch and cause your band to slip) I really don't eat breads for the same reason. I drink alot of Water and I workout 5 times a week. I really have worked hard to lose this weight. I am glad I have the band as a tool but really it is just a tool. I have been pretty aggresive with my fills as well. Hmm, I think that is pretty much it. If you have any questions don't hesitate to pm me. I love my band and know that it is the best thing I have ever done for me! Now I am looking forward to getting some plastic surgery done! :smile2:

There is a person in the Yahoo Groups that lives over in the North Windham a suburb of Willimantic that is looking for a support group that would be close to Hartford, Ct. She see Dr. Amy Barba, but because of current conditions she is unable to get to the doctor and have here band checked for a leak and to get it fixed and a fill. I do not have many details at this time. I had told here about this site and she did not know about it. I gave here the information and told here I would post here and see if any one could help and if there was a support group in Hartford. If anyone can help please let me know and I will forward it on to here.

Thanks

Chris

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
