Anyone else have their first consultation over video?

My first consultation with the surgeon is on Friday 6/3. I scheduled it as an in person appointment 2 months ago. I got a call today they are only doing virtual consults. I'm wondering if anyone else has done their first consultation via video, and can share how it went for them? Thanks ?

That would have been easier. Mine was in person and really was no point to go in person as they didnt actually do anything other than weigh me. would have saved me a half day of traveling lol

  • Yep, my pre-surgery consults were via zoom, and my post-surgery follow-ups have all been over the phone except for the one where I had developed an ulcer and my surgeon needed to physically examine me

All of my visits starting with consultation have been via video. The only time I saw anyone in person was for the actual surgery. It was great because I didn't have to take a half-day off of work each time to drive into the city, pay for parking, etc.

Just make sure your internet works and you have a private place at home to do the appointment from. The first time you might want to get set up a few minutes early to make sure you can get the system working

Good luck!

All of my visits were virtual until the day of surgery. Everything was fine?

Mine wasn’t but between the cost of gas and the wasting time driving to and from I guess it could be a good thing.

The zoom consults were fine, he had all my medical info already, so even without Covid lockdowns, it wouldn't have added anything doing it face to face. Just a bunch of questions, a chat and it was over surprisingly quickly.

Honestly, sitting at my computer with a coffee rather than sitting in a waiting room was a bonus!
