Does anyone have any insight on how to control my appetite?

I was sleeved in October 2017 and lost 110 pounds. Since the pandemic, it’s been very difficult to control my appetite. I eat just about every hour and my cravings are not for appropriate foods. It’s like I cannot control what and how often I’m eating.

Are there any appetite suppressants?

You’re not alone in this. Cravings are emotionally driven so you will need to identify the feelings, situation, etc. that are behind the craving. It’s not real hunger.Your body is not wanting food to function. Your head is wanting comfort. A lot of people gained weight over the past two years during the pandemic. People experienced more anxiety, fear, frustration, anger, boredom, etc. then ever before & they ate to comfort & soothe themselves.

Were you referred to a therapist during your pre surgical process? If so, I’d reach out to them & ask for their help to support you to identify what’s really driving your cravings & discover ways to manage them. If you weren’t, ask your surgeon for a referral.

All the best.

I agree, it is likely head hunger also. A few other things you can look at is to ensure you are managing your physical hun ger with the sleeve as much as possible. Please consider the following the options:

(1) eat solid food that needs chewing, helps to reduce hunger

(2) 50% meals are Protein based, of a solid form also to help reduce hunger

(3) Be well nourished with nutrition have a shake with extra Protein Powder and a MV for weight loss surgery

(4) avoid looking for fullness

Hope that helps
Helen

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
