Warning, bathroom stuff and gallbladder

Recommended Posts

Hey!

I'm happy to report that after getting on extra strength stool softeners and extra Water, I'm going regular again. I never thought I'd be happy to go to the bathroom yet here I am..

Anyway, I'm terrified of gallbladder attacks and getting my galbladder removed. Supposedly its common after weight loss surgery. I noticed that my stool is very light colored, like yellowish pale which I hear is a sign of bile issues but I also eat a lot of dairy, yogurt for Breakfast, cheese for Snacks, Protein Drinks and so on. Is this the first sign of gallbladder issues or just my new weird diet?

Anyone have experience with this post op from gastric bypass?

Thanks!

The only thing I remember from when my gallbladder was inflammed was pain and nausea. I had mine out three months after my lap band was placed. I'd been having attacks for years prior, but waited on surgery. Turns out it was porcelainized which is precancerous, so I'm grateful it's gone. My surgeon did it robotically and it was easier than weight loss surgery. No pain at all afterward. Recovery was a breeze for me. It was nice being able to eat without having abdominal pain again.

how far out are you? Multi-colored poop is not uncommon the first month or so after surgery. Mine was yellow until then. It's usually due to fat malabsorption, IIRC. I wouldn't worry about it if you're still early out.

Gallbladder issues used to be fairly common with WLS, but now most surgeons put their patients on ursodiol (Actigall) for the first few months which greatly reduces the chances. Even so, I don't know how common those issues are these days. We do hear about them hear sometimes, so I know they happen - but we don't hear about it A LOT, so I'm guessing it's not super common.

My surgery was Feb 14 so over a month. I'm glad to hear that, it's kind of a relief. I wasn't put on any meds for gallbladder stuff and never had issues prior to surgery with it but I heard it's common after. I asked my treatment team what if that happened and they didn't necessarily say its not likely and kind of just shrugged It off and said we'll cross that bridge if we get to it which kind of made me uneasy. So it's good to know the weird colors are normal in the beginning.

This was one of my fears too, after researching how to prevent gallstones I found suggestions to eat healthy fats one side even suggested a greasy meal every now and then to "flush" the bile out. Anyway here is a link that explains it better.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
